 Throwing money away | |
A Chinese man who hid his life saving in a rubbish bin forgot it was there and threw it out.
Mr Cui put 49,000 yuan (£3,200) in the kitchen bin before he and his wife went away on a business trip.
But on his return to Qingdao city he forgot about the money and put the rubbish out for collection.
Cui said: "We looked around our home and finally decided to hide the money in the garbage bin, where we believed it was safest from burglary.
"I threw away the garbage the day after I came home, since the bin was full."
Two days later he remembered the cash, but it was too late.
He said: "Our last hope was the city garbage treatment centre, but the landfill was so vast that we knew our money was lost forever."
