| The Terry Schiavo Case - What Are Your Thoughts/Opinions? | | Hey guys! Since it's one of the most publicized stories right now in the news, I wondered what your thoughts & opinions are of the case involving Terry Schiavo. Do you think they should reinsert her feeding tube or leave her to die? Below are my thoughts -
I think the idea of ever having her feeding tube removed in the first place was a bad move, a decision coming from her husband of all people. I hope the idea of having her feeding tube reinserted is considered & done, Terry doesn't deserve to die like this. With the Supreme Court refusing to hear the case, they should be the ones to blame if infact Terry dies before they arrive at a decision. Not only that, I feel that too many people have said that the President nor the government should have ever gotten involved in this matter, showing in numerous polls taken by newspapers & magazines around the country. As well, just today again, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled down the case and Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's bid to intervene in the case and take custody of Terry. In this case, I side of the side of life, not death. I see this as nothing more than cruel & unusal punishment. As part of our moral system in this country, we've been taught to cherish & honor the gift of life, not deliberately end it. Why can't the Supreme Court see that? Why can't a majority of the U.S. people see that?
If Terry does die, I hope the man upstairs is ready to take care of her, take away the pain she's had to endure over these past few years. I wish nothing but the best in the time she has left on this Earth. |

| I think its a disgrace. Its so sad. So just because she is bread dead gives us the right to end her life? Her husband is the legal guardian, but her husband doesn't even love her. Infact, he tried to kill her one time. One of her nerses said that once, he went into her room, and she heard a lot of moaning from Terri. Later, her nurse walked into the room, and checked her blood sugar level, and it was really low. Turns out, he injected Niacin or something like that, which lowers the blood sugar level by dangerous amounts.
He hates her parents and they hate him. I think hes doing this to get back at their parents in the best way he can, and thats by kidding the daughter. Aren't you getting questioning why her husband is pushing for her to die so much? It cant be because he loves her, because if he did, he'd be there by her side.
She definatly deserves to live. The husband has a wife and kids, hes completly abondend her, and he wants her to die because he gets paid at the end.. Its a shame what some people will do for money..
and for the Pro-Choice people, its really a nightmire... They know what to do with the Ten Commandments, Terri Shiavo, and they are against torturing Al Queda people or just torture at all, but Terri and her family are currently being tortured right now. Or it makes a difference because shes brain-dead. SOME. Not all pro-choice people believe that braindead and mentally Ill people dont deserve the same rights. Which is an abomination.
If we dont know something, its best not to kill her. There is a possibility that she doesn't want to die. The husband is lying to the media. If you're not sure of something, especially something like this case, Its best not to kill her. Because maybe she doesn't want to die. If she wants to, death will come to her, she doesn't need to be pushed to death, when we dont know if she wants to die or not.
Life and death is a very delicate issue, and its not to be given to by a judge. That is just insane. She can say 3 words, she can interact, she laughs at jokes shes still breathing.. SHE IS NOT DEAD YET. Therefore, she does not deserve to die. Her fate shouldn't rest in the hands of some judge..
Imagine if it was your loved one in that situation. You cant do anything about it...you're basicly watching your loved one die.. Which would feel horrible. Put yourself in their shoes, see how they feel.

| She's not even brain dead. The only thinshe needs is to befed differently. she's not on a whole bunch of machines. I think her husband should let her family take care of her. I eman they WANT to take care of her. Why is he so driven to see that she dies?
He says that she said she would have wanted it that way but there is no proof at all! this makes me sick, and it's too late now they aren't going to get anywhere in the courts or anything and the poor woman is going to die.
this is just sad. |

I mean I know he may want to move on with his life and all but couldnt he have just left her to her parents instead of persisting she die for 15 years. He already has a girlfriend and children, how could he possibly care that Terri get "her wish" or whatever.
I'm probably not making any sense lol but hopefully you understand what I mean |

Why, yes, if I was severely brain damaged and the only way I could be fed is through a feeding tube, then yes, I think I would want to die. What kind of life is that? Schiavo has been hospitalized, bedridden and unable to speak or feed herself since 1990, when she suffered heart failure linked to an eating disorder. 15 years folks. If she was going to recover, don't you think she would of by now? Quote: |

| Wow, by kidding the daughter. Man, I didn't know they could do that either. On the other hand, the whole statement is ridiculous. My father was basically doing all these things to try to keep the cancer down, but it just kept getting worse. It eventually killed him, and I had to let him go. He stopped doing the preventive things because he did not want to live like that. HE wanted to pass on to whatever lies next. That was his choice and I stand by it. Does that mean I hate my dad cause I wanted him to pass on so he could be without pain? Quote: |

| Well, of course she deserves to live...but not like that. That was never the issue. The issue is...would you want to live like that? Probably not. Quote: |

| Oh yes, it's all our faults. PRO-CHOICE ARE THE BAD ONES!!!1 First of all, I don't believe mentally ill or mentall disabled people should be treated any different. But "brain dead" is totally different. Second of all, her family needs to let her go, if they really loved her, they would. Simple as that. As I said before, I'm pretty sure none of you would like to live like that. Quote: |

| Yeah, that's all great and all, except her stay is being paid by taxpayers money. Considering that recent polls think she should be laid to rest, I doubt they approve of thousands, possibly millions in medical bills being paid by them. Quote: |

| Yes, it is a very delicate issue. So, who gives directive then? Who knows about life and death? God? The big invisible man? Well, by golly gee, I hope he comes down here to settle this dispute once and for all. Also, where did you get your facts? The only thing I have heard about her is that she can hear things but she cannot reply. Please post your source. Quote: |

| Imagine how she feels. Everybody is so worried about the damn family, that again, you wonder if she would want to live like that. THAT IS NOT LIVING. That is laying there, occaisionally making some random noise. The family needs to GROW UP and accept the fact that Terry is not going to get better. They act like damn kids. I lost my dad when I was 17. SEVENTEEN. And yet they can't deal with this and they are how old? I am so glad the courts are doing the right thing. Congress and Bush overstepped their boundaries when they got into the mess. Thank god our courts still have some sense.
