Unbelievable how this thing had to be blown up so bad, that even the President got involved.

It just goes to show that good preparations are a smart thing to do. Put on paper what should happen to you when you're in a position where you can't decide about your own life, so that everybody knows what to do.

Most people don't think about these things cause it seems so far away, but as this case is just another example, you just never know. I know for myself that should this happen to me, I do not want to live on as a vegetable. I would want them to pull the plug, and everybody around me knows that too. So they also know that they wouldn't be killing my life, cause living as a plant is no life. The people who do have lives, the ones I leave behind, they need to move on with their lives too. Having them come at my bed every day for years and years would ruin theirs along with mine. That's just unacceptable.

Terri Schiavo Is Now Free

I watched the Terri Schiavo saga only because that is what the media decided to latch on to, like a pack of wild, ravenous wolves. Why the media made a decision to follow the story of this particular woman, I do not know. There are thousands of other people in this country and around the world in the same dilemma. I suppose it is something that diverts the short-spanned attention of most of the viewers today.

For those that are aware that the economy is not good, the war in Iraq is not good, fuel prices are not good, and a slew of other ‘not goods’, the story is an ample diversion I guess. I will save my disgust with the media for another article however. I support the husband of Terri Schiavo, Michael, for being strong through all of this. Through the whole ordeal, Michael has shown that he truly cared for his wife. Although the self- righteous “moral majority” has brought forth many stupid, inconsiderate and hypocritical charges against him, he has still been able to maintain. Michael proved that he was not controlling the outcome because of the potential for profit; he turned down one-million dollars to keep his wife from becoming a guinea pig. That is a big blow to one of the accusations against him. There were also the judgmental remarks as to Michael committing an abomination---living with another woman and going on with his life.

He knew that his wife would be a vegetable, and whether or not he believed in miracles is not the point. Life is very short and both Terry and Michael were young at the time that tragedy struck. Who but only the most wicked could blame Michael for continuing on with his life? In addition, I do not blame Michael for not turning over control to that of Terry’s parents. They given the authority would have continued to have Terry hooked up to a degrading feed tube for the rest of their lives, in the hopes of some ‘miracle’. Miracles do not happen in the natural world, and the only miracles that have ever taken place were in a book in which no one is alive to substantiate.

Modern medicine has provided what was once unthinkable in the past. One of those provisions is the ability to keep alive a body that is for all practical purposes, dead. It is extremely ironic to me that at one time, self- righteous religious people, (Christians) were against the “Frankenstein-like life support systems” which degraded the quality of life and prevented the heaven-bound soul from departing. Now, these very same hypocritical, wicked clowns were saying that it was “against the wishes of God” to take a person off life support. Then Christians have the gall to call those who took her off a feeding tube, “murderers”, but in another breath claim that Terry could have lived without the tube.

Do they actually want people to believe that the doctors would have allowed Terry to die if she could in fact have been fed by mouth? These pathetic self-righteous, judgmental, ignorant buffoons (conservative republican Christians) want it both ways only when it is to their advantage. Whoever is hurt by the outcome, so what; that is how it is supposed to be. They are right and God is on their side, is what they think in their peanut- sized brains.

There is another fight brewing that these dolts would like to stoke. That is since Terry is now dead, to find another reason to blame and possibly crucify Michael. Nancy Grace, the former prosecutor who rode to fame on the back of the O.J. Simpson trial, had the nerve to plant the seed of doubt in the innocence of Terri’s heart attack and ensuing brain trauma.

By raising the question on her sorry show of “a possible blow to the head may have caused the trauma." Other nitwits can take the ball and run I suppose. Whom else to blame for a possible blow to the head but Michael? I think that if Michael literally knocked his wife senseless fifteen years ago, doctors would have caught it when Terry was initially admitted to the hospital. Terri Schiavo is free from all of this. To think of this circus being fought out in the Senate! I do not know how it was allowed to come to this point, but we need to keep separate private issues, like Terry Schiavo and that which concerns the country’s safety. That is the purpose of government by the way, the safety and security of the country.

I say to the conservative-republican/Christians; read the Constitution and get to know it. That way you will possibly have the sense to stay out of the issues in peoples lives in which you have no business. Terri is free from the likes of you. You will have to find another pawn in which to push your agenda.

I don't get the purpose of that. Possum, this is a private matter and you can't possibly know half of the story, unless you were there, or have talked to Michael yourself.

You hate being judged. You get upset when someone judges you. Why then do you judge others combined with such big accusations?

Consider the fact that you might be misinformed. Then you just falsely accused someone of being a killer...
