| I followed this story for a while in the newspapers and such.. such a sad story . I feel for the woman. I turned to Matt and told him that if I were in such a state no way in hell would I want to live. I've said that many times actually, so it's not that uncommon for people to talk about it. Matt agreed with me and said he wouldn't want to live either.
I was mixed up on this case, because I was supsicious of the husband as well as a lot of other people on this board, and I don't think he had her best intrest at heart a lot of the times. If she could talk, laugh, etc, I don't think that there was no hope for recovery...I wish he had just allowed her parents to look after her....but if she did say that she did say that she didn't want to live...then I could see why he fought for her to die..either way removing the feeding tube is cruel.
I guess this case hit close to home, because a few years ago my sister in law's cousin was in a car accident and severly braindamaged and in a coma with no hopes for recovery. They removed his tubes and let him die in peace. It was horrible. His father committed suicide a few months later. He was so young...17 and going into the air force when he graduated from high school.
I guess this is one of those cases where there is no right or wrong answer. I can only hope n othing like that ever happens to me or my boyfriend or son. It would be heart wrenching to go through that. My prayers are with her family and I hope Teri is in a better place. |

| Thats pretty much how I feel too, I value the way I live my life, I dont want to be fed through tubes. I want to be able to talk, to communicate, that is no quality of life for me so if I was in that position, I would want to die. |

Had it not been for that, I would be arguing from the position you are right now. She was not of sound mind to make a decision like that on her own. They said, "Tell the people you want to live"...okay, she can follow a command, that doesn't take upper level thinking to compute the answer, you simple do as you're told. They should have said, "Do you want to live or die?" and more than likely, they wouldn't have gotten a coherant response. |

It get's worse now. The husband wants her cremated but the parents want her buried. This is one messed up case. |
