Saddam Hussein has been captured in his hometown of Tikrit, according to reports.

There has been no independent verification of the news but Sky New's Foreign Editor Tim Marshall says the source of the news is usually reliable.

The claims come from Iraqi Kurd leader Jalal Talabani, says the Iran news agency IRNA.

The British Prime Minister has confirmed it is Saddam Hussein and he will be tried in an Iraqi court. Press conference at 12 GMT.

I watched the press conference, unbelivable pictures. Its a great day for the Iraqi people. I am so happy for them. The words "We got him" will go down forever in history.

Most will probably idolize the US troops now, while over the past months a lot of them hated the troops, cause their presence caused a lot of terrorist attacks.

I'm curious to see the terrorists' next move now, I'm afraid for attempts of retaliation on US soil.
