As for media bias, a lot of it has to do with selective perception. People filter the news according to their worldview and beliefs. George thinks the media is too liberally biased ,but my mom complains that the media is too biased to the right. Both could watch the same program and come to separate conclusions. As a result, niche markets like Fox News have sprung up catering to certain viewpoints. And obviously you also have to take into consideration the beliefs of management and the demographic the broadcast is intended for.

BTW drinking will only kill brain cells if done to excess for a long period of time. A glass of wine with dinner every night isn't going to cause brain damage.

Well, Im glad you understand what Im trying to say, but with all due respect, how can anyone say there isn't liberal bias in the media? The L.A Times, N.Y Times, constantly come out with more articles supporting that useless group, the ACLU, who will support anything anti-morals, Constantly bash Bush. Look at CNN, and MSNBC. Even programs who have had a history of being fair and balanced, have all taken a left turn. Case in point, Dan Rather. Im just saying theres only 1 Republican Biased network, and thats Fox News. But radicals from the left often claim it doesn't have the right to exsist, and they get mad at Fox News for its Republican Bias while at the same time, they have like 500 Media outlets in their favor. Also, look at MTV, and VH1, and all of those Music Channels, from what I've seen, theres no way Conservatives run those channels, or any other channel but Fox News and Disney.

Actually that whole "The media is totally liberal" line was started by republicans to try to get people to distrust Hollywood and actors in general. That was back when everyone was calling everyone a Commie that disagreed with the government.

George, where you are, which is in Cali, the Media is leaning to the left more. However, in the South (where I live) you won't see anything democratic or slightly left leaning. All we get here are articles and news reports with a right lean to it.

Even IF the media was "totally liberal" why would you care? Bush won, the public decided to go to the right. Generally the media caters to people's whims, so they will start going to the right just to get viewership.

But, uh, Bush and honesty just...don't mix in my opinion. I still ain't over the WMD thing.

I have no seen a channel with teh amount of bias that Fox news has to the right as many channels have to the left. I don't think the media is as radically biased to the left as you make it seem. NOBODY is BASHING Bush. Bashing is like saying "Bush is a cocksucer caus of the war." NO news program is saying that! I havent seen a news program that delievers political news with a bias. They give both sides of the agrument as they should. Althoguh, I have to agree with you the MTV sponsering the "vote or Die" campaign was biased. But otherwise I DONT see a bias. They had a special on Fahrenheit 9/11 where they asked questions to Republicans who went tos ee the movie and they showed what they're view of the movie was. I agree I think you see a media bias because you're living in a state with a media bias. It's not the country, I think it's just a few states that are very Left Wing. Like come down to Right-Wing Texas. You'll see a news bias to the conservatives.

SNL is constant Bush bashing, and what really pushed me over the edge is a little thing SNL did when Robert DeNiro hosted. It was durring Christmas time. Robert Smigel, the guy who makes all the T.V Funhouse segments, made a segment with clayed versions of Al Franken, Moby, and some other really liberal people with Santa. On the slay, they were flying over the U.S, and the Red States were marked Dumbf**kistan, while the Blue States were marked as Canada. While visiting a girl with Christian Values in a Blue state, they talked about the true meaning of Christmas and why it was celebrated. The girl got into a religious discussion, and Franken and Santa started making fun and basicly instulted the girl for being Religious, and called her a Religious biggot and things like that. That really offended me, as im sure it offended the people in Red and Blue states.

In '98, I remember Comedy Central making fun of Utah Senater Orinn Hatch and Pennsylvania Senater Rick Santorum for opening up the Lewinsky case on President Clinton.

VH1's Cartoon Show, ILListrated constantly made fun of Bush and even Bush voters w/ the whole religious thing.

Family Guy, has tons of subliminal messages, especially about Christians. 8/10 times in that show, there is always something about Jesus.

Infact, I can recall them saying..

"Yes"
"Damn, this guy must have been stoned like 7 days a week".

Also, its not just the TV and Newspapers, its also the Music and Movies.

If you have seen Mayor Of Mooseport, about a man who elected the mayor by cheating, and ends up destroying the whole city, is kind of what subliminal message Hollywood puts out of the Bush administration.

Dont get me wrong, im all for freedom of expression and speech, and im not gonna try to silence people when I hear something I wouldn't want to, but all of those Right wing Biased newspapers aren't as bad as the media is. Hollywood, represents and feeds entertainment to America, at home and overseas. Even if you have Right wing biased, its only on 1 Television station, and thousands of smaller newspapers that aren't sold outside of the state. Larger, left leaning Newspapers like the L.A Times, and the N.Y Times, are sold across the states, and even if its not Newspapers or sations, its Music and Movies - and thats something the right doesn't have, but the left does. Most teens at my school dont watch the news at all, they make decisions by what they hear in their music, and the subliminal messages they see in Cartoons and movies, that Republicans are racist bloodthirsty demons, and the Religion and Christianity is filled with hate.
