I'm against the death penalty, but...yeah. I think life in prision would have been fine. Yeah, he killed two people and hurt many others in the process...but what does killing him do? Nothing. It only hurts even more people. He knows what he did was wrong and he doesn't care; he doesn't have sympathy...not that he's shown at least.

It gets him out of a few things:

1) Out of a jail cell so that it can be occupied by some other asshole.

2) Out of harm's way, so we don't have to worry about him.

3) Out of his own punishment. He got lucky. He deserved to be tortured.

The death penalty in California is more like a life sentence. He's more likely to die of old age, than from lethal injection. Either way he got what he deserved.

It doesn't teach him anything though; he's obviously not sorry for what he did. Nor does it teach anyone else anything...the Death Penalty is not a deterrant against murder. Executing someone costs more money then life in prision and is more of a burden on tax payers. By killing him, we're no better than he is.

Oh, I'm not arguing. Believe me. I'd rather see him rot in prison, myself.
