yeah that certainly sucked today ( i live in NY). lucky the worst we had it was half power now and then and then the cable cutting in and out every 4 seconds. thank God that's the worst of it for us, there's power out sparatically across the state. long island has it the worst, i've tried calling my friends down there, can't get through. hope they're ok

Well, i can vouch for CT and say that it was definately more than just "parts". And definately not "only Hartford". My small little town was without power for HOURS, just came back a little bit ago. Now my Dad, who lives like 15 minutes away from me is without power. It's been on and off in almost every town, and LOADS of towns have been left for hours without power. I was at work when all this happened.

Blackouts are COOL. Drive down the center of town at 10 pm with NO power. Streetlights, stop lights, the whole town just SHUT DOWN. It's incredible. People freak out, no one knows what to do. I think it's awesome.

i remember when my lil and yes its VERY little lost all its power in a snow storm a few years ago. nothing like driving 5 minutes from my house to my sister's house where they could run their stove (gas) when its oh lets say 9pm, no lights in the town therefore pitch black except the lights on the truck, with the snow just a droppin. not much fun, but at least we got a snow day out of it (takes more than a foot of snow overnight for them to cancel school here). power came on about an hour or 2 after i got to my sister's.

*edit* and britney4eva, living through from texas, not experiencing it. not that i got the full effect myself but was freaked out for a while

My future roommate lives in southern New Jersey and he said they were without power for about thirty seconds and that it's all back now.
