first of all you don't give a history lesson because you either can't find won or are too lazy to get one to back up your case.
second of all the Bible isn't a sham or worthless. YOU just haven't gotten anything out of it and just because others are using it against something you care about which to me is a sham and worthless, doesn't mean it is. saying you don't get anything out of the Bible is one thing, but to say in general is a sham, that I take offense to and say to you what you say to everyone who is against gay marriage: go fuck yourself
Swany: typically as far as I understand it, the priest was use because the people felt that he was the one who had the authority to do so. I could be wrong, maybe political or high standing people in the society such as the leader or king/president did this in other cultures.
