a point i made in either this thread or another thread. wasn't that part of shawn vs bret hart "love it or leave it" angle

and as far as that Bible quote goes, I usually don't read the old testament. i've studied the new testament, the old is the obv older and comes more from the Jewish ways and thoughts if college classes serves me correctly. Not everyone is using that for their reasoning and honestly I didn't even know of that quote.

I think what puts so many people up in arms from the religious standpoint is that they would never allow marriage of a gay couple in a church therefore they don't want it at all. and if it were to become governmental law, then people who pushed for it to be a governmental right would then push their way onto the church saying well....when are YOU going to change. funny thing about religion, right or wrong people will fight to the death for it

To be honest, Yes I am religious and a proud Catholic and a firm believer in it but I dont oppose equal rights or that everyone has the entitlement to be happy and to committ themselves to the person that they want to spend the rest of their lives with. Who am I to stop anyone being happy. Everyone is entitled to that.

And see Emma, that is the difference. You are supposedly the majority but in reality, the minority. A lot of people claim to be that way but when it comes down to it, will always voice their vote against. I have more respect for people with your views, which basically means you can be religious without haveing to inflict it upon society to live the way you believe.

there's a difference between inficting upon society and just standing back and letting people do whatever they want. the reason people stand up and say yes or no is because they BELIEVE something is wrong regardless who is on the "correct" side. by people saying they want gay marriage is them inflicting their beliefs on society as well. i'm a religous person and I don't go around pushing my beliefs in other people's face. God is not meant to be forced down people's throats like "convert to our religion or you will be killed" but that's more on the topic of freedom of religion.

I feel the way as some here, I could care less about marriage but I feel I'll change my mind at some point. And I would love to have the opportunity to get married to the person I love. But as many I'm so bleh about hearing this over and over, 1. either ban it forever or 2. legalize it and let it be the end of it. Which I know if its legalize it still wont stop..so I guess theres no win situation here.

Regardless of what people BELIEVE, just because there are people who are born a certain way and people don't BELIEVE it's right, doesn't mean they should discriminate against the group. But basically, like I said, marriage is B.S. anyway because it WAS created by religion, which is phony in it's own sense, in my opinion.
