I felt sick when I found this out.
I'll give you a brief history, if you've never heard of her before..
12 years ago, in a town called St. Catherines (about.. 15 minutes from me, and home of my aunt and uncle) there was a couple, Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka. They looked like a 'dream' couple. They were both attractive and on the surface seemed like nice, good, helpful people. They abducted two teenage girls (Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy). They actually abducted Kristen by asking for directions, and then pulling her into he car. Leslie was also a sad case. She was a trouble making teenager, and was also coming in at all hours late, so to prove a point, her mother locked her out one night. She figured she'd go to a friends house, and they lived in a really nice area, so she didnt think she'd have to worry. Well, after realizing she was locked out, she went to go to a friends (..i think..) and Paul approached her, seen she was smoking and asked her for a cigarette. When she went to get him on, he grabbed her and through her in his car. (Can you imagine what that mother is going through? I feel so terrible for her.) Karla also drugged her 15 year old sister on two different occasions so that Paul could rape her. She choked on her own vomit, and died two days before Christmas.
When they were arrested, the police found video tapes, and on the tapes was every horrific thing they had done to the girls. Before the tapes were found, Karla helped convict Paul, so at first people believed that she had nothing to do with it, but when the tapes surfaced, she was on them helping him with everything.
At first, she played the role of the battered woman, because Paul did beat the crap out of her on many occasions, but again, the tapes showed that she was willingly helping him. Besides that, she was left on several occasions alone with the girls (the girls werent abducted and killed at the same time.) while Paul went out, and she had every chance to get herself and the girls out of there, and to safety. She never did.
So now, after 12 years, she's back on the streets. She was in prison in Quebec, and I dont THINK she'll come back to Ontario, but god, even the fact that she's anywhere free is scary as all hell. (Paul is serving a life sentence. He was also found guilty of being a well known serial raper 'The Scarborough Rapist'.. Scarborough is another town near me.) She's already been dating a man who's in prison for murder, so apparently she's drawn to the 'type'.
She asked for a media ban, which was rejected. She has no remorse for what she's done, and she wants to quietly slip back into a regular life. Im more then glad it was rejected, because she doesnt deserve the right to a normal life.

She sounds like a sick sick woman. She kind of sounds like she has that battared womans syndrome or whatever they call it, where the women do whatever the man wants them to do, and are so brainswashed that they don't try to escape or leave them. Or she could just be a sicko.
