Default Hinduism and Buddhism

I'm doing a report comparing Hinduism and Buddhism for my World Religions class. So far it's all a lot to take in. We went over these religions breifly during the semester, but we only spend about 3 days on a religion, which isn't enough time to get a good grasp of it.

So I was wondering if anyone here knew about either of these religions either from personal experience or knew of any good sites I could go to where I could find good information?

The one thing that I'm having troubles understanding is how their books are set up. I know there's the Upanishads, Vedas, the Bhagavad Gita, but then there's also mention of smaller books that are parts of the main books and I'm confused as to which smaller books belong to which larger books. Does that make sense?

Yeah, but unfortunately, we didn't go into the books that deeply. Sorry.
