George, I wasn't saying that YOU were forcing anything on me, but a lot of people tend to force their opinion of God onto people. Im sure I'm not alone when I say that if I wanted to be involved in religion and if I wanted to believe, I would do it on my own...I don't need others telling me I'm going to hell because I don't believe how THEY believe.

I would also like to say this: People judge Gay people, and punish them by not giving them rights(I've gone back and forth between my beliefs on this, but I firmly stand this way right now), but do they not realize no one sin is greater than the other? Being Gay isn't any worse than disobeying your parents, treating your kids poorly, etc.

"Who is without sin among you let him cast the first stone"- The Bible
Exactly. I agree 100 percent.

And this whole religious argument thing should totally be kept seperate from laws of wheter people can marry or not. You don't believe it's right, that's fine, but you know what CHRUCH AND STATE SEPERATE. You can't let YOUR personal belief system dictate the lifestyles of people who may or may not have the same belief structure you do.

Thats only in schools. Not in marriges.

Treaty of Tripoli says that America is not to be dubbed as any nation. Christian, Muslim, Jewish, ect. That doesn't extend to marriges.

How do you get that it's only for schools? I'd be interested in hearing this. Remember when people freaked out because there was a "religious" monument infront of a court house and they all raged on about how there is supposed to be a "separation of church and state"...THAT wasnt in a school setting, now was it? Separation of Church and State simply means that we should NOT let any religion have a bearing on the way our laws are made...which includes marraige laws.

It's funny that you should say America is not to be dubbed a "christian nation" when I think just a while ago in all the Presidential debates you were arguing that we WERE a Christian religion...iiiiiinnnteresting.

Nope thats in all things government, including public schools that are funded by the government. The Pilgrams came over here to escape religious persecution. At the time England was controlled by the church. The laws of America are built on the foundation of church and state being seperate, so as to avoid what the Pilgrams came over here to escape in the first place.

I have no idea what tha tTreaty of Tripoli is, but wheter America is to be dubbed whatever nation has no bearing on wheter same sex marriages should be allowed. America is not a Christian nation, it's about time people stop acting like it is. ESPECIALLY our freaking President.
You can have your opinion on gay marriages, that's fine. But don't enforce your religious ideals on people who don't practice your religion and share your beliefs.
