I suspect the motivation behind this decision was to stamp out Islam, not get rid of religion altogether. However, large crufixes and yarmelkes were banned to make it seem fair. Radical Islam is a big problem getting out of hand fast in France and the rest of Europe. If the people of Alabama wanted it there that is one thing, but you can't allow judges to just wheel in monuments on a whim. Quote: Originally posted by GoofBallBoY77 And they guy wanting to ban the word god from the pledge of alligience. | "Under God" wasn't even in the original pledge of allegiance so this is a non-issue. The "under God" portion is a relic of the Communist witch hunts. If ur athiest dont look at the ten commandments, dont say GOD in the pledge of alligene. | The minority should have protection from the tyranny of the majority. There are also religions that do not say the word God out loud nor do they write it out. Quote: Originally posted by GoofBallBoY77 WTF is up w/ removing God in the US currency. If it bothers you then just dont look there. It shouldnt be someone else's problem. Besides there are more god beliving people in the world, why dont athiests think what they want inside themselfs? lord what is this world coming to? | Agreed. As long as you don't tried to convert me, you can wear a helicopter beanie for all i care. However, it becomes a sticky issue when you have one group (Muslims) acting like hooligans and harassing the native population.
Kinda o/t but regarding your sig:
"DONT BE A LIBERAL! LIBERALS ARE AMERICAS DESTROYERS"
Acoording to dictionary.com, a liberal is defined as: # Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.
# Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.
So, under this definition you would define yourself as a liberal since you are tolerant of differing religions than yours.
I know what you are getting at and that is leftist liberals. Remember that the founding fathers of the U.S. were classical liberals. There is a difference. Yes, i am anal ,but i wasn't going to start a topic on it. It is a common mistake. |

| when i say liberal i mean the people who support gay marrige abortion rights, and the influance of collage. But arent what the athiest collage teachers doing something wrong by bringing every shread of evidence making someone else liberal and athiest? The bring the evolution thing up and they bring the frickin skulls up and try to make you believe in evolution. If its so ok for them to try to convert people to being an athiest then why is it not ok for me to preach to someone of my religion. Why is what the athiest are doing ok but the other religions not? Thats not fair.. Oh and BTW i dont think that you called muslims hooligans. If you are referring to terrorists, then ok but if your not, the thats just wrong. A Right wing is a Conservitive, and left wing is a Liberal. Conservities move on the teachings of judao christianity. Thats what got this nation soo far. Im pissed cause that gay ass ACLU is only targeting Christianity.. Which in my opion is being a HATER. Its politically unjust to attack one religion if you say you are trying to attack all of them.. |

| The Demokraps coined the term "liberal" during the Depression when they supported FDR's liberal use of government resources to deal with the crisis. The GOP opposed this and wanted FDR to "conserve" government power, so they are now called conservatives. Let's all thank AP US History for this useless info.

I said that the Prophet Mohammad (p.b.u.h) fought because Islam was at the verge of extinction. which is FAR greater than a 'risk' because other religions exist. And no, i'm sure hardly anyone thinks that just because there are other religions out there, it puts there religion totally at riks. Seriously, you sound like a 12 year old arguing. See, you dont even have your facts straight. And dont even try to argue with me on that one cuz who's the Muslims here? That's what i thought. How do you know that Islamic preachers 'brainwash' their followers..so r u saying that the Islamic preachers are the ones who convince their beleivers to commit terrorist attacks? | How do i know? are you really that naive or just refusing to see the reality? ever saw reports on the news that proves so? ever read a palestinien school book? (just taking them cuz i know whats happening there)
And in general, tell me! why is it that most terror attacks in the world are conducted by muslims then? if not by a twisted view of the religion and preachers who use their powers in a negative way? |

| I think that this ruling is seriosly messed up. I know next to nothing about France and the Muslim population, but If I was a muslim girl I would be pretty p/oed. Reason being, this head scarf is part of their religion, its something that is important to them and their relationship with Allah (?) or God or whatever they call Him. I don't believe that a goverment anywhere has a right to make such rules or laws to try to prohibit a religion.
If, like certain people are alluding to in this thread, the Islam population is getting "out of hand' or whatever, how will banning girls from wearing scarfs make that problem any better? And someone please explain to me what the Islamic people are doing because I have seen nothing in this thread to tell me that they are doing anything so bad. |

| Its not about the scarf making it better, its just that making all religious signs of all religions disappear will make the things less tense, when people dont know where someone they look at comes from it wont create rival capms or whatever and like that everyone can start from their starting point without prejudicing others, being neutral is always better anyway |

You're the one following the stereotypes that the media throws at you. If you're gonna sit there and literally believe everything what the media says about the Muslims, i feel sorry for you. I havn't even heard any terrorist attacks from Muslims in Turkey, Indonesia and Isreal. Or are you just listinig country after country, hmmm.....
How does following a religion do harm to anyone? Tell me that in the first place. I only see benefits coming from following a religion, i can't think of one disadvantage. |

How does following a religion do harm to anyone? Tell me that in the first place. I only see benefits coming from following a religion, i can't think of one disadvantage. | Well, Britneyslave, the disadvantages are that there are many people who claim to follow this or that religion who really give people in those religions bad names, yet the ones giving them the bad names typically aren't even following the own followings in their own religion and, in fact, many times aren't even that religion at all (but just say that they are).
It's just like many people think they are a certain religion just because their parents were. NO--that does NOT make you a follower of that religion! To follow a religion means that YOU personally must follow it. What your parents did or follow is what your parents did or follow. If you don't believe something, then you are not a follower of that religion, plain and simple. You are not of a religion simply because your parents were, in other words. This misconception is widespread and annoying.
You could have parents who followed the Jewish faith and you yourself be Christian. You could have parents who followed the Christian religion and you yourself be athiest. ....it all depends on YOU!
Also, there are lots of misled individuals who think they are a follower of this or that religion simply because a certain leader takes them under his wing and "teaches" them things about that religion, yet actually is teaching lies about it and teaching them something else entirely, but they are then deceived into thinking they are a follower of <insert religion here> when, in fact, they are followers of someone with an alterior motive.
What's bad about religion isn't religion, per-se, but is all of the posers, if you will. |
