I think most people think the EU is better off NOT expanding with the countries they are about to expand with, but I honestly don't think we are allowed to be THAT selfish. And that's what it boils down to, in my opinion.

A united Europe will be able to serve as an obstacle to American hegemony. The advantage of little countries joining the EU is that they can negotiate as one block instead of confrontin the U.S.A. all by themselves.

Hey Denmark, let's see how much America will care if you slap a couple of tariffs on them!

Also, the euro should be the official currency of all of Western Europe, including Sweden, Denmark, and the UK. A common currency greatly increases efficiency of business within the continent because you don't have to keep exchanging currencies.
