I don't agree with this war much more than many other people in this country. Was G.W. jumping the gun once he got into office?
Our side: yes he should have waited for more support, it was a rash/rushed decision.
Their side: he had a goal that he was passionate about and wanted to get it done therefore wanted to start it as soon as he could.
Is it a shame that there are kids older and younger than myself over there risking their lives and are scared?
Our side: yes.
Their side: yes.
My thought: there are kids over there, one from my home town, who love that kind of action and can't wait to go back. he's following his commander in chief and doing something where he doesn't mind getting his hands a little dirty. freaky/messed up/scary shit going on over there, hell yes. granted not everyone feels that way. If my friend Chris had to go over there, i'd do everything i could to stop her or find a way she didn't have to. but i'd sure as hell support her, write to her and do everything i could that way too
The problem with this lady is that she seems to have forgotten what she started all this for: her son. not for political reasons so she can spread her opinion on life and politics because quite frankly i don't care because there are thousands saying the same thing. let THOSE people do the talking. she shouldn't exploit her son like that. that's like hank william's son exploiting his father: bullshit
Is G.W. the greatest leader? no. is he our leader now? yes. Do we have to wait out his office term? yes. Do we have to like it? no.
But the way i see it, no one else was going to step in and take care of sadam. do we have a right to do what we did? does that really matter now because it's already been done, we can't change the past. should someone stand idly by while a bully beats up on someone who can't defend him/herself? you always take the risk of hurting yourself by attempting to help someone else. Jesus said "what greater thing can one do than lay one's life down for a friend" what we need to do is support our troops. they are the ones over there not us. when they come back from almost getting their head blasted off/spending 8 months in a P.O.W. camp/losing a limb and see THIS WAR IS BULLSHIT, TAKE THE TROOPS OUT, THIS WAR IS FOR OIL ONLY i'm sure that doesn't sit well with some of them (just as i'm sure it sits well with some).
"I'm just trying to be a father
Raise a daughter and a son
Be a lover to their mother
Everything to everyone
Up and at 'em, bright and early
I'm all business in my suit
Yeah, I'm dressed up for success
From my head down to my boots
I don't do it for the money
There's bills that I can't pay
I don't do it for the glory
I just do it anyway
Providing for our future's my responsibility
Yeah I'm real good under pressure
Being all that I can be
And I can't call in sick on Mondays
when the weekends been too strong
I just work straight through the holidays
And sometimes all night long
You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door
Hey, I'm solid, hey I'm steady, hey, I'm true down to the core
And I will always do my duty no matter what the price
I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice
Oh, and I don't want to die for you
but if dyin's asked of me
I'll bear that cross with honor
'cause freedom don't come free
I'm an American soldier, an American
beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand
When Liberty's in jeopardy, I will always do what's right
I'm out here on the front line
Sleep'in in peace at night
American soldier, I'm an American soldier
Yeah, an American soldier, an American
Beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand
When Liberty's in jeopardy I will always do what's right
I'm out here on the front line
So Sleep in peace tonight
American soldier, I'm an American
An American, an American soldier"
