| Time for Duffyboy's imput into this one I think.
1) Nobody knows whether they are Liberal or not.
2) NOBODY with any sense likes a right wing war supporter, preaching in front of people being overcharged for their education.
Both of these statements are true but Im sure I'm going to be hammered for this. Ah well.... whats new? |

Like Jess said, please get OFF the whole "liberal this, liberal that" soapbox. It's really annoying. "Liberals" aren't the only ones who do immature things in the name of their opinions. Some people who are Conservatives have done some pretty shady things too, it goes both ways. Stop trying to make Liberals out to be the bad people. Sheesh!! |

Both of these statements are true but Im sure I'm going to be hammered for this. Ah well.... whats new? | 1. The people arrested were liberals, because they were the same people protesting outside..
2. I think you need to start listening to both sides. Right Wingers aren't pro war. You just say that because there are people who support it in this war, and whatever I say to you or try to explain, you will go on about how you're always right and how everyone who isn't liberal is dumb stupid idiotic, ect. Because you think you can never be wrong, and you have some sort of fear of being corrected or confronted with the truth. So I wont scare you this time. Quote: |

| So Is it wrong if I post something that I thought was interesting? Maybe this just so happens that Liberals were apart of the story. Im not trying to make liberals look bad, but If there were conservatives doing the same thing I would post it too. I just haven't seen any articles of conservatives doing any of those things. I know you dont believe I would post anything about conservatives, but I know myself better than you. lol. So I would know what I would post and what I wouldn't. Besides, most of my really good friends are liberal, so I have no intention of hurting anyone. |

| Let me just say-
Do I think that throwing the pies was a good thing? Hell no. Those men, first of all, shouldn't be trying to harm someone (a woman of all things) who was just expressing her right to say what she wants. Second of all, they had horrible aim. If you're going to do something do it right not half assed!
But do we know they are 'liberals'? No , we don't. Maybe they were just people who wanted to get into the papers by doing something stupid, who knows. There are people out there who dislike powerful women. Maybe they are one of those?
I've known PLENTY of conservatives who dislike Ann Coulter because they think she is giving them a bad name. Besides the fact that in her column Ann described the men who threw the pies as "back woods hicks" or something like that, and generally speaking, all the back wooded hicks I know vote the republican ticket, but I'll let that one go because she embellishes stuff all the time.
I JUST posted an article about conservatives (well I don't really consider right wing fanatics to be conservatives, I think they are a seperate group of themselves, along with the rabid left), so obviously these kinds of things happen both on the right/left. Go google it, I'm sure you'll find more horrendous things.
You know I wouldn't actually be suprised if the pie throwing thing was staged to show how 'mature' 'liberals' are. It's just interesting to me that she wasn't hit by two grown men who were right in front of her. Hmmm.
Oh and Duffy- she charges thousands of dollars to do those speeches. There was actually some protesting about her doing them, because that money could be (in some people's opinions) better spent in the school than on someone like her. |

You can be a Republican and disagree with other Republicans and the way they do things. You can be a Democrat and disagree with the way other Democrats do things. And yes, you can even be liberal in your thinking but not agree with EVERYTHING on the "liberal side" Quote: | 2. I think you need to start listening to both sides. Right Wingers aren't pro war. So I wont scare you this time. | Just as you take this once indicent as a chance to lump all those who think more liberally into one category and say, "You're so immautre! How low can you go?" And with all due respect, George, you also seem to have a fear of being corrected or maybe not even that, but just the idea of another way of thought seems to frighten you. I've seen many of your posts where you basically convey the notion that if more liberal thinking will be in power, we're all basically screwed. Quote:

However, the snide comment about liberals could have been left aside and the subject line of the thread didn't help at all either, as it was yet another stab at liberals. Furthermore, nowhere in this article does it mention that these men were Liberals...that's just an assumption of yours. As Jess has said, even fellow Conservatives dislike this woman and are against her. What if the pie-throwing men were Conservatives?? *gasp* But Conservatives wouldn't do anything like that! You accuse Duffyboy of ranting and going off on Conservatives but yet you do the same thing with Liberals. Okay, so not to the extent that he does...but fact is you're still doing it.

| Actually, there has been a rash of pieings and other immature activity lately. Quote:
The Horowitz pie-throwing followed a March 30 incident in which William Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, was hit by a pie during a speech at Earlham College in Richmond.
On April 1, conservative commentator Pat Buchanan cut short his speech at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich., when he was doused with salad dressing.
| http://www2.indystar.com/articles/2/235087-5582-P.html Quote: |
Buchanan's visit had evoked controversy on campus because it fell on the birthday of the late Mexican-American labor leader Cesar Chavez. Buchanan favors tighter controls on immigration.
The Kristol pier claims that he doesn't identify as a liberal. However, many left-leaning people now call themselves progressives. Quote: Originally posted by Swany $3000.00 Damange?!?! HA! FOR WHAT?!?! Dry cleaning? | In TSG police report, they damaged the screen in the venue. Police report link
The police report says that the two were members of Al Pieda. Al Pieda lists the Biotic Baking Brigade as one of their role models. On the about us section of that website it reads: Quote:
As multinational corporations accelerate the plunder of our world, a militant resistance has formed in response. Diverse in philosophy and targets, diffuse in geography and structure, the movement comprises freedom-loving folks with a sense of aplomb and gastronomics. Fighting a guerrilla media and ground war with the titans of industry, these revolutionary bakers and pie-slingers have achieved in short order what can truly be called a Global Pastry Uprising (GPU).
This uprising has its roots in the belief that our planet is not dying, it is being killed; and the ones doing the killing have names and faces. Since the GPU began in the late 20th century, dozens of prominent corporate executives, politicians, economists, and sell-out non-governmental organization "leaders" have received their just desserts for crimes against people and the land. When it comes to defending the Earth from the corporate universe, the pie's the limit!
The groups and individuals involved in this unique form of Pie-rect Action have declared their opposition to the neoliberal platform. This platform intends to eliminate individual/local/regional/national autonomy, privatize industries and services, deregulate financial markets, hoodwink citizens into trusting "the invisible hand" of the market to protect them, and legislate corporate global dominance through such trade agreements as the North American Free Trade Agreement, Free Trade Area of the Americas, and General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade.
| Source.
The other group in their "role model" list is left-wing as well. So George is correct in the Coulter instance.
If you go to a site like Democratic Underground , then you will get a glimpse of what kind of people throw pies.
Anyway, pieing or throwing things is for people who are too stupid and immature to engage in rational debate. |
