Default 2008 = Female President!

In a recent US Poll Hilary Clinton is a favourite candidate to take control in 2008?

More than 6 in 10 American voters believe the country is ready for a female leader, and 81% say they would vote for a woman.

They survey by New York`s Siena College Research Institute shows 53% think Democrat Senator Hillary Clinton should try for the job.

42% would like to see US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice run for the White House.

Good idea! But would it happen? What's your view?

Hmm...I think people might say that just because they think it's the "right" response. In reality, I don't think too many people think that. Women are still heavily discriminated against by MANY people and especially in the job market. I would LOVE to see a woman president to prove that yes, women CAN handle the job, and I think it will happen eventually, but I'm not sure about the next election.

If she ran she'd be shot down. She's waaaaaay too liberal for the likes of America.

Only for half

With any candidate that's running, though, they have to talior their "opinions" and stances to fit somewhere in the middle. Of course in reality they may lean more towards one side or the other, but they have to go somewhere inbetween to get the majority votes.

If she agreed with my veiws.. I would vote for her.

Shes moving a bit to the middle now.. Shes given some pro-war speechs. I guess she knows shes way to liberal to be elected president, so shes gonna move a little to the middle..

Its ok, California would rather vote for a chimp than a Conservative, so theres 55 points just for her.

It would be interesting to see it happen. I mean, I could easily say that a woman is incapable of handling such a task, but there's no way I can back that up. If it hasn't happened before, we can't say that she'd do better or worse because she's a woman. But when you look at it objectively, it doesn't matter what sex a person is. That makes no difference in their ability to run a country. It'd be nice to see her run. Hopefully people will vote based on who would be the better candidate, not what their front ends look like.
