A plane with 141 people on board - most of them French tourists - has crashed into the Red Sea. It is feared no one has survived.

The Boeing 737 took off shortly before 5am local time from Sharm el-Sheikh resort and quickly disappeared from radar about seven miles south of Cairo airport. The charter flight, operated by the private Egyptian Company, Air Flash, was bound for Cairo for a stopover before heading on to Paris. Egypt's Ministry of Civil Aviation says there was no distress call made.

As far as I know, there isn't. Like you already stated , it was a mechanical problem. It's indeed an aweful accident.

A little positive message though, I read that the amount of plane crashes and the people that died went down, which is ofcourse a good thing.

Another newsfact: A passenger on a KLM flight said to a stewardess he was planning to hijack the plane. He also mentioned he was wearing a gun ....

Later in Rome, the person was arrested. According to the man it was only a joke. A pretty sick one if you ask me.
