Why?

I saw the trailer for it before Elektra... and I'm so disappointed already.

Its directed by spielberg and tom cruise is in it. The problem, its set in the 21st century AND in america. Gah! I bet H.G Wells is turning in his grave, first the time machine now the war of the worlds.

Another book to film, ruined because of americanisation.

I mean its hardly gonna be as great as the book I mean who would believe aliens in tripod things could take over 21st century america, they'd just nuke em or use some other weapons to get rid of them..

19th century england on the other hand they didn't have any sorta weaponary to fight against the aliens which made it a thousand times more believable. Fuckers!

I kinda feel you Lea, about it straying away from the book. I am however looking forward to it.

I'm also looking forward to the other one coming out this year also. The one described as "The first authentic movie adaptation of the 1898 H.G. Wells classic novel." Trailer. I'm looking forward to this one, even if it is low budget and the special effects aren't spectacular because it's supposedly just like the book.

I loved it.

I cant believe you are judging the whole movie for just a teaser trailer that doesnt shows the whole thing, i've seen really great movies trailers and when i go to the theatre the movie sucks big time.

Spielberg always said his movie was an adaptation (as "based on...") so i was prepare for those changes.

I have to agree cancrojc.. you cant judge a whole movie only based on what..? 30 40 seconds...but I have to say that the 21 century thing.. just can't be... in that way..they're totally ruining a great book...still... im dying to see it.

I'm judging it because its being SET IN AMERICA in the 21st Century and NOT london 19th century.

It annoys me that the american's can't leave anything un americanised.
