| Polish people call Michael Moores 9/11 film Propaganda.. | | Michael Moore's contentious film Fahrenheit 9/11 has opened in Poland, with some film critics likening it to totalitarian propaganda.
Gazeta Wyborcza reviewer Jacek Szczerba called the film a "foul pamphlet".
He said it was too biased to be called a documentary and was similar to Nazi propaganda director Leni Riefenstahl.
But politicians opposed to the country's involvement in the US-led occupation of Iraq have urged people to see the film.
"In criticising Moore, I have to admit that he has certain abilities - Leni Riefenstahl had them too," Mr Szczerba said in his review.
"Michael Moore will not convince Poles with his film," the Rzeczpospolita newspaper said in its review. |

| I don't even think it was advertised as a "documentary", was it?? And if anyone is really as dense to think that it IS a documentary...well, that's another story.
This film is strictly Michael Moores view on what's happened. Just as "Dowling for Columbine" was his thoughts on that situation. |

| well duh. Films are supposed to be the creator's views on a situation or life. it's like he is saying his side of the story of what happened. |

| Ive seen the film, and the polish people are right.. not just because im not a liberal like micheal moore is, but he is too cowardly to go on any show and discuss his film.. I know this thread will have another 20 pages because of what im saying now, but He has refused to go on Fox News and CNN with a Bush spokesperson who they can debate it. I really strongly dislike micheal moore, because hes like a terrorist to his own country. People outside of the U.s, like hearing bad things about us, and so they think that just because moore is an angry american and says bad stuff about this country they think he is right. He goes to other nations, like a few weeks ago, he was in Venice i think, talking about how evil this country is, How much we hate everyone else, and he said quote, "America is full of stupid white men and other stupid people". Because of him, 40% of non-french speaking Canadians think that the United States is evil, and 67% of French Speaking Canadians think the united states is evil. The Canadian Government Obvously, doesnt want the people to like this nation because of disagreements.. isnt it odd how Al-Gerzea was signed to be allowed in Canadian cable networks, but not Fox News? I think micheal moore is an idiot, and he needs to get off his behind and get a real job. Hes a terrorist to his home nation and he should find better things to do than to complain to the Bush Administration to install new jobs in his hometown of Flint,Michigan.. Get a life.. |

I'm not saying I'm all for it or anything like that, but really...what does it matter? It's just his views, he's very extreme in his beliefs, that's no secret. If people DO go to this movie to believe and take as truth what he's saying, then THEY'RE the ones with the problems, IMO. |

| ok Possum a couple of points on your posts. First of all being a filmmaker IS a real job. Do you think Steven Speliburg should get a real job? George Lucas? James Cameron? Because he does the same sort of thing that they do, only he deals in reality while the other filmmakers tend to delve more into fiction.
And dealing with your points on him going to different countries and talking about America he had this to say in Entertainment Weekly.
EW: The hard right likes to call you a "traitor" or "anti-American". I think a lot of it comes from the fact that you say these things overseas that can be pretty harsh about your countrymen. Like when you spoke to a British audience and referred to "this country of mine, which is known for bringing sadness and misery to places around the globe."
MM:I say the same thing here. Most of us know that for a country that has such incredible ideals, we have not lived up to them in many ways. THe patriotic thing to do is to aspire to (make) this country the one that our founding fathers thought it should be. Anybody who works hard to do that, wheter they're conservative or liberal , is doing the work of a ture American. I would never call anyone on their side unpatriotic or traitorous.
As for him calling the president out on things..
EW: ever worry about your tone? I mean this guy IS the president.
MM: I understand what you're saying. He IS the president of the United States. Look, heres a good example of how I feel about this . A couple of weeks ago, out here on Broadway, a guy comes up to me and says, "I'm a Navy surgeon. And I was on a ship off Iraq the night you made your speech at the Oscars and I was very angry at you. I remember yelling with the others at the screen. Now I just want to apologize. You were right. You were telling the truth." And I said, Listen , you don't owe me any apology. Apologize for what? That you believed your Commander-in-Chief? That you believed the President of the United States? Why should you feel bad? You SHOULD believe the President, because if we can't believe our President, we're in deep trouble. You don't have to aplogize for anything, In fact, I want to thank you for offering to risk your life to defend us and I think it would make the founding fathers proud to see the country still survives in their first belief, that's why it's their First Amendement, that somebody has the ability to express themselves and criticize the top guy. That's the country they created.
I really respected him after reading that interview (theres quite more to it, I just put in the things that dealt with what you were saying), I really understood his side more. I didn't like him at first, but I really have come to. |
