The books were absolutely amazing, and so much is left out I feel, and less emphasis is on the history of everything (which is quite extensive and impressive in the books). It would be worth it to me to sit through 3 super long-ass movies in order to see it all. Granted -- those actors would have to work their asses off, and twice as much money would be spent, but...all that aside, I would just cream my pants if they did that.
Many would LOVE to see that, including me

But I think no team of film makers and actors would even have 'the strength' to start on such a project ... that would be like three movies of 6 hours ... maybe even more!

I love the movies how they are and I thing it's great how the fans are treated with an extended DVD version of each movie

That *would* be a daunting task, indeed. It was more like wishful thinking -- not complaining. I'm just happy that those books exist so that I can read them all the time -- they are like a treasure of mine. The movies are just an added bonus for me -- when I read those books I see so much more than the movies even begin to show.

True, but still I love to actually see the books translated in movies. Sure you can create the whole world and history in your mind when reading the books. But there will never be a day where I'll say 'no' to a great movie and these are great, epic movies

They did a remarkable job for all those years, putting the story, the legend in a movie. Look at Peter Jackson now, he's more popular than ever! Different than the classic 'Bad Taste' and 'Brain Dead' days ... although I truely enjoyed the splatter movies

I'm so looking forward to 'ROTK'!

And once I'l have seen that one, I'll be looking forward to 'The Hobbit'.

Tolkien rocks!

Yesterday I saw the theather version dvd it looks soo good, some parts of the dvd look "soft" wide angles of the scenery.
The battles are jaw dropping the Dolby Digital track is superb.

All i have to say is i cant wait to get my hand on the EXTENDED version which includes the DTS track as well as a double high bitrate!!!!!!

I think I'll probably go rent the DVD but I'm definitely gonna wait for the extended edition.
