Friends star Matthew Perry was taken to hospital this week suffering a seizure after taking prescription drugs, it has been revealed. The actor was rushed into an LA hospital by ambulance after an emergency 911 call.

Emergency tests showed traces of barbiturates in his system, the News Of The World reported. He tested negative for illegal drugs such as cocaine and cannabis.

His spokeswoman said: "He was admitted because he had an adverse reaction to some prescribed medication. "His doctor wanted him in the hospital where they could observe his condition. "But he's fine." Matthew, 35, has a history of substance abuse, after becoming addicted to the painkiller Vicodin eight years ago. He has checked into treatment clinics on several occasions, but said in 2001 that he had kicked his addiction.

Barbiturates are normally prescribed for anxiety or sleeping problems.

i know i read that on the news when i got up not long ago. Its such a bitch when medication just makes u worse.

well he was addicted to pain killers wasnt he? he's over that now tho i'm pretty sure of it. i hope he doesnt slide back into it. he seems a good guy.

Thats true but if he is on sleeping tablets, I dont think it sounds too good.

Maybe he has insomnia or something? At times I have to take sleeping pills to sleep because I have insomnia. I don't think it means you're a bad person by any means. If you don't have it , thank your lucky stars.

I hope he gets better. He was my favorite FRIEND.

well the news report sad they r also prescribed for anxiety, perhaps he's stressed about something or whatever. family troubles, upcoming roles?

I hope thats the case. He has been released from Hospital so thats good news.
