Well it finally happened folks. Billy Crystal is not hosting. thank god!



LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - This year's upcoming Oscars show will bring the pain -- in the form of Chris Rock. The comedian will make his Oscar hosting debut for the 77th Academy Awards in February.

"I am a huge fan of Chris Rock," says Oscars telecast producer Gil Cates. "He always makes me laugh and he always has something interesting to say. Chris represents the best of the new generation of comics. Having him host the Oscars is terrific. I can't wait."

Although he's following in the footsteps of last year's eight-time veteran Billy Crystal, Rock isn't a hosting virgin. The 39-year-old performer has hosted numerous comedy specials, including his Emmy-winning "Bring the Pain," his own comedy show and the MTV Video Music Awards.
