With their comeback tour due to begin in the US this autumn, and a new album also in the works, the Backstreet Boys are set to take part in a new reality TV show.

MTV.com reports that 'Bodyguard' will follow the search for a new protector for the quintet and will be produced by Jonathan Taylor, the man behind 'The Osbournes'.

The group will not appear in every episode of the show, but the final episode will follow the winner's first day at work with the Backstreet Boys.

The show will be pitched to networks in the US later this month.

Doing a reality show would be an awesome idea for them because it could make thier next album sales boost way higher (look at Ashlee Simpson's record sales - if it wasn't for her show, she wouldn't have sold anything), but only if they redo the concept they are thinking about now.

Whats not amusing about a guy who is on the verge of a drag queen, a father, a mexican nobody, a drunk and a wife beater. Sorry for the stereotypes/rumour spreading, it's just SO much more interesting than NSync, or 98 Degrees. (I don't know any more than that)
