AWWWWW at least we have each other through this trying time

I totally agree...it's just a Catch 22. I wanted to see him win because I know it meant a lot to him. He went into it with a passion and it'd just be nice to see him win it. But on the other hand, he can still go places, especially because he's so all-around amazing. Just...grrr I'm still upset.

He's gonna write LOTS of songs for us Logan!

Awww. I hope that everything is okay with Mario. Do you guys have any idea what his reasons may be? Either way, he'll still be a HUGE star.

I cant believe it!!!, he was one of the very best singers in American Idol.

I think FOX will receive a few complaints because he really was one of the audience favorites, even if it was a personal reason and the people request wont get him back.

But im sure he can make it, i mean everybody saw he can sing and perform so im almost 100% sure he will receive a contract... and if he doesnt, he should be smart enough to try to contact Emilio Estefan, im sure he will have a special consideration with him because he is latin. Emilio is looking for a new artist right now in the USA, he is talking about it everywhere.

According to FOX News (I didn't see it but another Mario fan did), his mom was shocked he withdrew. So that sort of singles out a family problem. I'm not sure what it is but I'm sure the reason will break sometime soon.

I can imagine a lot of people are bothered by it...I mean shit. It really is disappointing, especially for me.

But like we've all said, it's in his hands...he's already a star and he can do big things. I just hate to see him go like that, no warning and I only got 3 real songs out of him besides the audition and stuff! I wanted to make a CD

Maybe he doesnt like becoming a star through Idol? If it si that, that's very good for him to realize. The only successful Idol winner so far is Kelly Clarkson. Sure Ruben had a #1 album but all his singles flopped. And Fantasia, despite actually having a good record, her album and single didnt do as well.

There's a lot of stuff floating around now, according to this site (http://www.drudgereport.com/) Mario didn't want to be tied to the "exclusive" idol contract. Which if its true, what I told you earlier Mandy might be true. He has been offered a record contract, or something.

Though still disappoing, that would be cool with me. Like I said, you're dubbed with that "American Idol Winner" thing and it can sort of suck at first. Honestly I don't think Kelly, Ruben, or Fantasia's albums were anything groundbreaking. I actually like all 3 (not so much Kelly's but I like her second) but you know...you don't have much freedom in the beginning. So if he does get a deal, that's really all I want. I want to still see and hear him.

Still it sucks that I couldn't watch him week by week...he was the joy of my week and like why would he go on there if he didn't want that kind of deal? He's seen the past winners I assume. Then again I guess it's a launching point too. I dunno *cries*

OMG I know, seriously. He was the person who put a smile in my face for the whole week, I know it sounds cheesy and lame but its true, and I'm gonna miss him on AI, but I guess its all for the best. In time well have a nice set of songs we can listen to ALL DAY and enjoy.

These 3 songs he did on AI will be playing over and over and over and over all day, till we get that cd.

He probably didn't know what kind of deal he would get, like I guess they all go in thinking they'll get one thing but they end up being offered the opposite. Who knows I guess, I just hope we know the truth soon, this is just so depressing. *wipes your tears, and sheds my own*

From the NY Post:

March 14, 2005 -- "American Idol" sensation Mario Vazquez — the Bronx crooner named one of 12 finalists — mysteriously bowed out of Fox's smash-hit show yesterday, citing "personal reasons."

The sudden departure of the 28-year-old contender had fans scrambling to the Fox Web site, only to find his name and picture strangely deleted from the message boards.

Vazquez told TV Guide he quit "to take care of some personal issues with my family in New York. And with 'Idol' being a live show, it just wouldn't have worked out schedule-wise."

"I'm healthy, I'm fine. It's just a personal family thing. My family is my top priority," he told the magazine.

But Vazquez's mom, Ada, said she knew of no problem involving the family and had not idea why he left the show.

"Look at me, I'm fine, I'm still kicking," she told The Post. "I don't know his reasons, but whatever they are, I respect him for it and will be very supportive."

Semifinalist Nikko Smith, who was voted out last week, will return to the competition, taking over the vacated slot.

Smith, son of Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith, was picked because he received more votes than Travis Tucker during last week's competition.

Sources said it was Vazquez's decision to leave the show.

The news came as a bolt out of the blue, buried in an oddly worded press release announcing that Smith was back in the lineup.

The release devoted just one line to Vazquez's withdrawal for "personal reasons."

"I feel so hurt. Maybe it's something Simon did. We are always blaming Simon," Vazquez's mom said, referring to the show's blunt judge, Simon Cowell.

"I'm really angry right now. I don't know why he quit. This is the first I am hearing of it," she said, breaking into sobs.

Vazquez's brother Rich, 30, said Mario seemed upbeat when he spoke to him over the phone.

"He said, 'This is not a life-threatening situation. It's for the best reasons. But I can't talk about why.'

"I know he wanted it so bad, so it was a shock to me," Rich said. "I thought that maybe his life was in danger, but that is not the case."

Last week, Mario's fellow contestants voted the pretty-boy performer most likely to win.

This is not the first time an "Idol" contestant has left under unusual circumstances in the late stages of the competition.

Frenchie Davis, a powerhouse soprano semifinalist, was told to pack her bags last year after officials found that she had posed nude for a pornographic Web site.

Blarf. This week will be so depressing
