Hey guys! What'd you think of the show? It was pretty good I thought, especially w/ Cena beating Sabu and DX sticking it to the Spirit Squad. With that, here are your complete Vengeance results, enjoy!

DX Breaks Down The Spirit Squad
By Louie Dee
June 25th, 2006

The numbers were in the Spirit Squad’s favor at Vengeance in the 5-on-2 Handicap Match. Unfortunately for them, those two men weren’t ordinary RAW Superstars…they were two of the best ever, Shawn Michaels and Triple H. And when all was said and done, the reunited DX overcame the odds to defeat the cheerleading quintet.

Prior to the match, DX even tortured Mr. McMahon a little bit as well. The WWE Chairman was on his toes all night long waiting for DX to strike, but they did it when he least expected it. As the chairman went into his personal restroom, he was nailed by a cloud of green smoke that left his face resembling that of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

Once the actual match began, DX did a good job of keeping the Squad at bay early. Already sporting a bloody nose, Johnny entered the ring and tried to imitate the Karate Kid; unfortunately, the spirit of Ralph Macchio couldn’t help him avoid getting clobbered by Triple H. DX even took a page out of the World Tag Team Champions’ book, double-teaming poor Johnny as the rest of the Squad hurt their own cause by distracting the referee.

Finally, the numbers game caught up with DX as Johnny stopped HBK’s attempt at nailing Sweet Chin Music on Mikey. Kenny then viciously nailed HBK with a chair and the 5-on-1 attack was on. The Squad kept Michaels isolated from The Game, brutalizing him mercilessly for several minutes.

Just when things looked bleak for DX, Michaels avoided a double-team and made the tag to Triple H. The Game was a house of fire, and the Squad flew in all directions as he nailed them one by one. As he brutalized Kenny however, the other four Squad members isolated HBK outside the ring. Unfortunately for them, HBK ducked a flying attack from Mikey and he ended up barreling into the rest of his teammates.

HBK then climbed back into the ring, and that was pretty much curtains for Kenny. He walked straight into a Pedigree, and Michaels nailed a returning Mikey with Sweet Chin Music for good measure. Three seconds later, DX had the victory secured.

Following the match, the rest of the Squad tried to attack again, but they all took a Pedigree or some Sweet Chin Music for their trouble. To add the ultimate insult to injury, Triple H dropped his pants; HBK then pulled poor Mitch up, and DX inducted the first member into their own “Kiss My Ass Club.”

Mr. McMahon came out to the entrance stage to watch the shenanigans, and as DX celebrated their win The Chairman could be heard saying “congratulations…I’ll see both of you tomorrow night.”

DX got the best of McMahon and the Spirit Squad at Vengeance…but what does the WWE Chairman have up his sleeve for the degenerates now?

Revenge
By Brett Hoffman
June 25th, 2006

At Vengeance, Randy Orton finally got his revenge. The Legend Killer finally conquered the Wrestling Machine, taking advantage of an exposed turnbuckle to RKO ECW’s Olympic Hero.

Several months ago during the King of the Ring Tournament, Kurt Angle made Randy Orton tap out to the ankle lock, in the process, breaking Orton’s ankle and forcing the WWE Superstar out of action for more than two months. The Legend Killer made his return at ECW’s One Night Stand to accept Angle’s open challenge, but on ECW turf, the result was no different as Orton once again tapped out to the Ankle Lock. The next night on RAW, Orton challenged Angle to a match on WWE grounds at Vengeance and ECW’s Wrestling Machine accepted.

The fans at the Charlotte Bobcat Arena were treated to an intensely fought, back-and-forth contest. Early on, the Legend Killer controlled the action, using a variety of headlocks to wear the ECW representative down.

Eventually, Orton would let his guard down and give Angle the opening he would need to take control. The RAW Superstar took to the top turnbuckle in an attempt to put Angle away, but the Olympic Hero came to just in time to capitalize and executed a belly-to-belly suplex off the top.

At one point in the action, a turnbuckle became exposed when Orton untied the protective padding. At the time it seemed meaningless, but later in the match, the exposed turnbuckle would prove to be the difference.

Later, Angle impressed both WWE and ECW fans alike when he executed a series of eight consecutive German Suplexes, seemingly taking the life out of the cocky young Legend Killer. Moments later, Angle looked for the kill. The Wrestling Machine locked Orton in the Ankle Lock, and to many, appeared to be just seconds away from victory.

Little did Angle realize that the turnbuckle that was exposed earlier in the contest, would only now come in to play. Pulling from his deepest reserves, Orton was able to power out of the Ankle Lock and propelled the ECW Extremist into the exposed steel. Seconds later, Orton rose to his feet and RKO’d Angle for the victory.

After the match, WWE.com caught up with Orton to get his comments on the big victory. “He cleaned my clock at One Night Stand, but tonight I did what I had to do to win. He didn’t secure the Ankle Lock on me until it was too late. I used my momentum and my agility and to throw him right into the bullseye which was the exposed turnbuckle. He was knocked woozy for a minute and I was ready for the RKO. That’s all it took.”

The Streak Continues
By Zack Zeigler
June 25th, 2006

Since debuting on RAW in April, the Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga, has plowed through every opponent that’s been brave enough to step into the ring with him. At Vengeance that trend continued, as well as Umaga’s impressive undefeated streak, as he faced off against Eugene.

For moral—or perhaps mental—support, Eugene summoned for “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, Doink the Clown, and Kamala to join him at ringside. Unfortunately, the three WWE Legends’ experience and wisdom didn’t add much to Eugene’s in-ring performance, and the match was over shortly after the referee called for the starting bell.

The 350-pound Samoan monster never lost control of the match. Although Eugene was able to land a few offensive blows, they weren’t enough to stun Umaga long enough to deliver any significant damage before Umaga hit Eugene with a Samoan Spike for the three count. After the match, Umaga continued his assault on Eugene as the WWE Legends at ringside stepped into the ring to come to Eugene’s aid.

First, “Hacksaw” tried to nail Umaga with a three-point stance, but was caught with a stiff clothesline and knocked to the canvas. Then it was Doink’s turn. Umaga smacked him with the Samoan Spike, sending Doink to join Duggan lying limp on the mat. As Kamala climbed into the ring, Armando Alejandro Estrada, Umaga’s manager, coerced the Samoan Bulldozer to leave the ring without tangling with Ugandan Giant. As Umaga walked up the ramp, visibly angry and baffled at his manager’s decision, he kept his eyes fixed on Kamala, leaving WWE fans wondering what will happen next between these two massive Superstars.

After the match Armando Alejandro Estrada told WWE.com why he ushered Umaga away from the ring before he could go nose to nose with Kamala.

“Umaga had gone through three big dummies, okay? It’s not that easy,” Estrada said. “Now, you want to bring out the Ugandan head hunter from deepest darkest Africa? Hey, not tonight, amigo. Not tonight. Some other time.”

As for the other two WWE Legends Umaga decimated tonight, Estrada added these unflattering words.

“‘Hacksaw’ went out of style in 1985, just like his 2 x 4. And Doink? They want to bring back clowns? Hey, last time I check this is WWE, not Barnum & Bailey or Ringling Bros,” he said.

Still, the manager insists his client’s performance tonight at Vengeance speaks for itself.

“What needs to be said about Umaga that hasn’t already been said?” Estrada asked. “He is the Samoan Bulldozer, and there is not a lot of people that can stand up to him.”

[BThe Hometown Hero Prevails...But At What Price?[/b]
By Louie Dee
June 25th, 2006[/b]

Ric Flair may have defeated Mick Foley in the 2-out-of-3 Falls Match at Vengeance, but the Hardcore Legend made sure the last image fans in Charlotte saw of their hometown hero was a bloody one.

Foley said on RAW that he would try to outwrestle Flair, and early in the bout it looked like it would be a technical encounter…until Foley punched Flair square in the face. After hitting his signature Double-Arm DDT, Foley pulled out a customized Mr. Socko that looked like the “Nature Boy,” but Flair blocked his attempt to use it.

Flair would later hit a double axehandle off the top rope (a rarity, as Flair fans would know) but appeared to hurt his knee. Foley pounced, working the knee and even going for Flair’s signatures Figure-Four Leg Lock. The “Nature Boy” was quick to counter, rolling Foley up in a small package to claim the first fall.

Foley immediately jumped Flair to start the second fall and the two men brawled to the floor. Foley took control, and the technical wizardry went out the window when he found a trash can under the ring. The Hardcore Legend stalked the “Nature Boy” with the weapon, but Flair tripped him up. He then locked in the Figure Four, and with nowhere to go, Foley bashed Flair in the head with the trash can. That drew a disqualification, giving the match to Flair in two straight falls.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of Foley’s attack. After another shot with the trash can, the Hardcore Legend found his favorite barbed-wire baseball bat under the ring. Foley maniacally mauled Flair with the weapon, nailing him several times to leave the “Nature Boy” a bloody mess. Foley was finally escorted from the ring, but the damage was done.

After the match, Foley told WWE.com exactly why he shifted from his “technical” game plan. “Well you know, in life as in WWE you always have to have a Plan B,” Foley said. “Plan A wasn't working, so I shifted gears. It surprised me, but not as much as I’m sure it surprised Ric.”

Foley also said last week on RAW that he wanted to embarrass Flair by having what he called a “fiasco” of a match. While it wasn’t quite as “bad” as Foley hoped, he still thinks that he got the job done.

“I surprised myself by actually having a good match,” Foley said. “I wasn't quite expecting a bloodbath, but I think it was mission accomplished. I did indeed embarrass Flair….right here, in Charlotte, North Carolina.”

The hometown hero may have won the battle at Vengeance, but it certainly looks like this war has only just begun.

First time's The Charm
By Louie Dee
June 25th, 2006

It seems like the first time is the charm for Johnny Nitro. In his first championship opportunity on SmackDown, Nitro won the WWE Tag Team Championship; lightning struck again at Vengeance, as the red-carpet darling defeated Carlito and Shelton Benjamin in a Triple Threat Match to win the Intercontinental Championship.

Before the match even began, Carlito may have been thrown off his game. While watching Torrie Wilson and Maria rub baby oil on each other, he was interrupted by the sound of his music in the arena. While he was able to maintain an early advantage in the match, the chaotic nature of all three men being legal kept anyone from really staying on the offensive for too long. In fact, it was that same rule that helped Nitro win the gold.

At one point, Nitro was hung in the tree of woe with Carlito standing above him on the top rope. Somehow, the insanely athletic Benjamin popped up onto the top rope, and in a moment that has to be seen to be fully appreciated, Nitro hit a German suplex on Benjamin as the champion pulled Carlito over in a superplex.

With all three men shaken, Carlito managed to go on the offensive once again. After hitting a springboard elbow on both men, the Caribbean Superstar avoided a charging Nitro by pulling the ropes down, sending him crashing to the floor.

With Nitro seemingly out of the way, Carlito nailed Benjamin with the back cracker, a move that usually leads directly to a victory for the Caribbean Superstar. Before he could cover, however, Nitro pulled him out of the ring. Ever the opportunist, Nitro then slid into the ring and covered the still shaken Benjamin, getting the three count to become Intercontinental Champion.

Neither Carlito nor the former champion could believe what had just happened, but the opportunistic Nitro was the one who walked out with the bling-bling around his waist. Stunned, Carlito and Benjamin were forced to watch as the paparazzi surrounded the new champion and his lovely manager Melina at the top of the entrance ramp.

Following the match, Nitro gave away his “secret” that led him to victory. “Well, luckily for me I'm very talented, and I have the best and most beautiful manager in history,” the new champion told WWE.com. “Put those together and I'd expect a lot more in my future.”

Melina also chimed in, adding that “we were already the top stars on SmackDown, so it was inevitable that we were going to be the top stars (on RAW) too.”

And when asked about the way he won the match, Nitro offered a simple rebuttal. “Call me what you want, but you have to call me champion.”

Still The Champion
By Brett Hoffman
June 25th, 2006

At Vengeance, ECW’s Rob Van Dam once again proved the critics wrong as he successfully defended his WWE Championship over RAW’s Rated-R Superstar, Edge. The Champion survived interference from Lita, and later, used a 5-Star Frogsplash to score the 1-2-3, retaining the gold he worked for more than 15 years to hold.

Prior to the match, Edge came out to address the Charlotte crowd. First, claiming the Carolina fans had nothing to do with the Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup Championship, and then promising the fans that he would be reclaiming the WWE Championship and delivering a second live sex celebration on Monday’s RAW.

During the match however, Edge failed to deliver on his promise. ECW highest flyer relied on his extensive array of aerial tactics to control the match and keep the Championship in ECW hands. Van Dam used a standing moonsault in the ring, a flying moonsault outside the ring, and a modified top rope Rolling Thunder to electrify the Bobcats Arena crowd.

Edge got his fair share of offensive maneuvers in as well, first taking control when he incapacitated the Champion with a sunset flip powerbomb off the apron to the arena floor. The RAW challenger followed up the attack with another vicious powerbomb, this time into the ringside barrier.

Back in the ring, an errant martial arts kick knocked the referee out, giving Edge and Lita a chance to team up to give the Rated-R Superstar an advantage. RVD hit the Van Daminator on Edge and then went up top for the 5-Star, but Lita pushed the ECW legend off his feet, allowing Edge to spike the Champion with a DDT off the top turnbuckle. The referee recovered but it was too late as RVD kicked out.

Edge and Lita went for another double team tactic, but it backfired with the end result seeing Edge spear a steal chair. Van Dam capitalized, hitting the 5-Star Frogsplash and securing the pin. Van Dam once again defied the odds and kept the Championship in ECW hands.

After the match, Van Dam was greeted backstage by John Cena. The triumphant Champion addressed the RAW Superstar. “You had balls to show up at One Night Stand, and you had balls to show up at ECW on Sci Fi…that’s something I admire. I know you feel slighted because you never got a rematch for the belt. A lot of people think I’m holding your belt, but I’m not. I am the Champion. Here’s what I suggest. Tomorrow night, you and me, live on RAW for the WWE Championship.”

Cena responded, “I didn’t come into your house and beg you for a rematch. You took everything away from me. That’s not the John Cena spinner belt, that’s my life. You wanna come to RAW tomorrow night and give me a shot to take that back? See ya tomorrow night Champ.”

Afterwards, the Champion had this to say about his Vengeance match. “It was very physical and that’s the way I like it. I’ve always said my strength is in endurance, the kind of endurance that allows you to absorb a lot of punishment and still be the guy that comes out on top. The match was under WWE rules but it still got very brutal and it was a very important victory for me because I’m still proving myself as a Champion. A lot of the talk was that tonight would be my last night as WWE Champion and go back to doing my ECW thing. That’s not how it happened tonight, I’m still the Champion.”

Even Better Than The Real Thing?
By Louie Dee
June 25th, 2006

Going into Vengeance, Kane was sure that he would vanquish his impostor once and for all. Instead, the Big Red Monster got a taste of his own medicine en route to an unforgettable loss.

Kane jumped on his impostor as soon as the bell rang, but the faker rattled Kane by doing his signature sit-up move. In fact, the impostor Kane did pretty much everything in the ring the same way the real Big Red Monster would. And while you may think it would be easy enough to take out a mirror image of yourself, Kane wasn’t able to figure out how to put away his own “clone.”

Towards the end of the hard-hitting contest, impostor Kane went for…well, his signature chokeslam. The real Big Red Monster blocked it, but the faker nailed a big boot and headed up top, only to be caught and slammed down by Kane.

As the Big Red Monster took control, he went for a chokeslam of his own…and in a moment fitting of the circumstances of this match, the exact same sequence happened: Impostor Kane blocked the chokeslam but was nailed with a big boot and Kane went to the top rope.

Kane leaped, but his impostor caught him around the throat as he landed. Impostor Kane hit a thunderous chokeslam, and as the crowd sat in stunned silence he got the three count to defeat the real Big Red Monster. Adding insult to injury, impostor Kane exited the ring using the Kane’s signature backwards flip over the ropes.

The fans weren’t quite sure what they had just witnessed, and quite frankly, neither am I. But the question has to be asked…has Kane’s impostor truly gotten the best of the Big Red Monster?

Extreme Tap-Out
By Brett Hoffman
June 25th, 2006

At Vengeance, WWE’s John Cena survived Extreme Rules in defeating ECW’s Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal, Death-Defying Maniac, Sabu. The former WWE Champion came out the victor in an Extreme Lumberjack Match that included steel chairs, Singapore canes and a table. In the end, it was a submission hold that put Sabu away.

The match, which was made when Sabu won an Extreme Battle Royal on the world premiere of ECW on Sci Fi, was supposed to include ECW lumberjacks only. However, a pre-match ruling by Mr. McMahon evened the playing field when he ordered the ring to be surrounded by not only ECW Extremists, but also RAW Superstars.

The match itself was every bit the all out brawl that the Charlotte crowd expected. In the early stages, the competitors took advantage of the ringside lumberjacks. Sabu and Cena repeatedly tossed the other outside, feeding their opponent to their respective brand-mates.

Eventually, Sabu took control of the contest, playing off the Extreme Rules format to unleash a brutal assault on the RAW Superstar. Sabu utilized his favorite weapon, a steel chair, to deliver a patented Triple Jump Moonsault, Triple Jump Legdrop and later an Arabian Facebuster.

Unable to score a pinfall, Sabu again threw Cena to the outside. Outside the ring, Cena was able to temporarily regain control. The WWE Superstar fought off the Extremist Lumberjacks and even F-U’d ECW’s Stevie Richards on the arena floor. Eventually, the Extremists regained control and laid Cena on a table for Sabu to drive him through.

Thankfully for Cena, the RAW lumberjacks responded and freed their representative from the Extremist grasp. The former WWE Champion got hold of Sandman’s cane and used it to greet Sabu on his way over the ropes.

Back inside the ring, Cena hit Sabu with a chair, and F-U’d the ECW legend through the table that was still set up at ringside. The WWE lumberjacks rolled Sabu back in the ring where Cena was eagerly waiting to apply the STFU. Seconds later, Sabu tapped out, giving Cena and WWE a huge Vengeance victory.
