Default WWE seriously needs to do something about the Cena problem.

One thing that WWE still hasn't got to grips with is the serious problem with their WWE champion John Cena. They guy is being marketed as a homophobic rapping, invincible champion which isn't good for buisness.

Plus he is releasing albums just to make a fast buck. Not to mention ripping off the whole Austin McMahon storyline with Cena and Bischoff, who I'm positive isn't fired for real.

Put it this way, Cena is no Austin. And Cena is no Rocky. I'm sure many others feel this way (as crowd chanting has suggested). If they are going to push Cena as a face and HHH as bad guy come WM, then there's going to be one serious embarasment in terms of crowd reaction.

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying how WWE needs to get it's finger out and quick.

He definitely is no Austin or Rock. But I don't think he's trying to be either of those guys.

The rap persona can be kind of a disadvantage considering most WWE fans probably don't like rap. But I think if he went back to cutting trash talk freestyles on his opponents before matches, he might get some more people behind him again.

I just appreciate the fact that he isn't trying to act like he's everybody's favorite wrestler. I LOVED the fact that he mentioned on RAW from Boston that half the WWE fans don't like him. He's honest and real, and most of all, he's himself. That's not something you get from most superstars. Instead you see things like fashion consultants, golf players with caddies, and "superheroes," a bunch of gimmicks without genuine emotions from the men who play the roles.

As for WrestleMania, if Kurt Angle doesn't have the title by then, I think Cena will be facing Edge per Edge's money in the bank guarantee. I think that'd be really intense. Edge is severely hated and Cena can wrestle that match as a big time face, I'm sure of it.

As for his albums, I don't give a damn. I care about watching John Cena in the ring, because I believe him when he says that's where he'll always be.

And I actually think it's refreshing to see a face who overcomes the odds every time. We've had to sit through countless heel title reigns for five-plus months at a time watching them cheat their way to victory in every situation. It's so refreshing to see a face who won't let himself get screwed every time he's in a big match. In fact, Batista is just the same way also. But anyway...

The time since WrestleMania XXI has been a hell of a change of pace. The past few years we've been used to seeing a new heavyweight champion every three months. Now we have two guys who may both make it a whole year with their belts. It's like a throwback to the old days when champions were more capable of defending their title for a long period of time. Trust me, it'll make title changes all the more exciting.

A face comes along who holds the belt for a long while. Figures he's a face I'd rather not see have the belt. Give it to Angle, he deserves it. I remember seeing a sign a while back that said Cena 3:16 says we've seen this before. The guy is doing what he loves, can't knock him for that. But his angle should stay more him and less austin/rock. I think he's funny and a good guy, but needs to lose the belt. Make things more interesting before HHH comes along and has it for another 3 years

I agree with NDD. I like Cena because he is himself, and he doesn't give a damn about the bitching of other people. He says if they wanna get it on, then they should bring it on. I like that attitude. Ain't nobody's bitch.

I think it's unfair to always compare the newcomers that have success with previous stars such as Austin and the Rock. Those guys aren't holy. They're just as much wrestlers with a passion like anybody else making it in the business. They are no gods. I mean, when Austin was big, Goldberg was big. Yet nobody likes Goldberg. Why? Cause "he wasn't WWF and the Austin/McMahon era is the bestest and wrestling sucks since then ".

That's a pretty stupid reason. Yeah but Goldberg kicked Bret Hart's carreer to shreds when he made yet another mistake in the ring! So what, Austin beat up his girlfriend. Mugshots and everything. Rock, he's making movies for the fast buck! Hey, he even dumped wrestling for being Hollywood star! What makes him different from Cena? Cena does BOTH. Cena takes the oppertunities that are offered to him just like Rock did. Only Rock left wrestling, and Cena is staying true to his roots.

And then there's Hogan. Ask HBK about that, I'd say heh. As for Cena's music, I'm a hardcore metal fan and I like Cena's music. I'm not a rap fanatic. But it's not about that. The reason I like Cena's music is because it's REAL. There's heart in there. It's not like standard cliché rap music. It has nothing to do with making a fast buck. He's doing what he loves. It's what he's all about, even before he got into wrestling.

Wrestling fans are like Britney fans these days. Never satisfied with anything. I say if you don't like WWE, go watch TNA. And if you don't like that, then go watch Ring of Honor. And if you don't like that, then what the hell are you doing watching wrestling? Maybe what you're looking for are videotapes of 1998, heh.

The Bischoff / Cena angle got a little tiring to me yes, but not because of the Austin / McMahon thing, but because Bischoff did it all before in WCW. But there he didn't limit himself to just the World Champ. He'd piss off the Tag Champs, the TV Champ, the US Champ, and all of them. I didn't even THINK of Austin / McMahon because what I see is Bischoff repeating his OWN history. Not to forget Cena did it all before when Kurt Angle was GM on SmackDown.

But they had to do that in order to set Eric up for being replaced as on-screen GM. Personally, I liked Cena better when he was on SmackDown. But I still like him enough on RAW. I feel the same about Batista. I liked him better on RAW. But with all the crossover angles, he's still beating RAW guys up, so it's all good.

But yeah, I hardly see Cena as a "problem". Just like Triple H was a "problem", right? And JBL. The only guys who actually CAN be champion and doing a good job of it. The only guys with the passion for the business that so many other wrestlers lack. Those are the ones you label as a "problem"? Dude, have you seen the I Quit match between Cena and JBL? And HHH's matches are always great. If you don't think those are good, then you don't know much about wrestling, man.

Very very good points you have Stinger and Nick. Even tho I dont think Cena is as good as Batista, I like him. I'd rather have John as champ then HHH or Kurt Angle because I have never liked those 2, their characters bug me, they always have. I guess it comes down to alot of people are getting bored with Cena and I also know that some are getting bored with Batista too. Well, Im not....maybe its because Im a girl LOL who knows! oh well, I will continue to support both of them. Ive been watching WWE to long to not support them.

Cena ripped to pieces again by the crowd, many right behind Shelton tonight.

Oh and another thing, next weeks show is in New York! I predict a fucking riot!

I have a feeling that Cena may carry the title all the way to WrestleMania now that he's added a submission hold to his arsenal. He's won three matches now with that STF, which makes him even more of a threat.

Half of the crowd was for Cena and the other was for Shelton, in case you didnt happen to notice. I sure did!

Yes I noticed. But the half of people that chanted for Cena were girls and young boys. And the men were pro Shelton. And it's these men who are the hardcore supporters in WWE's legion of fans. That's Cena's biggest problem. An immature fanbase.

So they need to make him something that makes him more acceptable to the men and boys. Otherwise it's going to be a pitched battle with them and the kids.

I can't believe I'm actually saying this!

I can't believe you're saying it either. You make it sound like you went into the crowd on Monday and took a poll or something.

The one part of that that made sense is that, yes, the BIG TIME demographic in wrestling is the 14-(34?) year-old male. Or maybe it's 14-25. So yeah, that includes men and boys.
