Oh hell no! That was probably the sports flop of most people's lifetimes. NOBODY took that league seriously.

It was regular football somewhat taken to the extreme. There was a rule that there is no fair catch on punts. And there were a bunch of other rules that made it more extreme and rough. Most critics and sports people didn't take it seriously because it was too close to wrestling.
