Thumbs up WWE No Mercy - The Official Thread

Hey guys! Don't forget about this Sunday, when WWE presents No Mercy LIVE on PPV from The Target Center in Houston, Texas. This is turning out to be another blockbuster PPV, as several big matches have already been named, including World Heavyweight Champion Batista taking on the "New & Improved?" Eddie Guerrero, L.O.D. & Christy Hemme facing MNM & Melina, US Champion Chris Benoit facing Orlando Jordan, Booker T, and Christian in a Fatal-4-Way, Rey Mysterio vs. JBL, Simon Dean vs. Bobby Lashley, and Undertaker vs. Randy & his father, Cowboy Bob Orton in a Handicap Casket Match. Below is a preview of Sunday's PPV, along with the matches. Be sure to watch Friday Night SmackDown! this Friday to see if any more matches will be named by SD! GM Theodore Long.

Eddie Guerrero vs. World Heavyweight Champion Batista
October 9th, 2005

The new Latino Heat?

Eddie Guerrero gladly accepted his role as No. 1 Contender on Friday Night SmackDown. Eddie, who was all smiles, went on to tell Batista and the fans that he was a new and improved Latino Heat, who was more about compassion than manipulation.

He even thanked Batista for the opportunity, claiming he had complete respect for his accomplishments. Guerrero then told Batista he wanted to have a great match with him at No Mercy on Oct. 9 without hating him.

Guerrero and Batista eventually shared an awkward embrace to declare a newfound friendship. WATCH

Still, with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line at No Mercy, how friendly could these two Superstars be?

Undertaker vs. Bob and Randy Orton in a Handicap Casket Match
October 9th, 2005

"The Legend Killer" Randy Orton and his father WWE Hall of Famer "Cowboy" Bob Orton have been playing mind games with Undertaker like nobody has ever done before. In fact, several weeks ago on Friday Night SmackDown, the Ortons presented the Deadman with a casket. When he opened it, Undertaker saw the spitting image of himself resting inside.

The following Friday night on SmackDown, Randy and his father addressed the fans from the middle of the ring. The ring was decked out with the same casket that they had used to psyche out Undertaker the previous week. Randy claimed that Undertaker may have beaten him before, but the Legend Killer had beaten the Deadman mentally.

With that, Randy peered closer into the casket, examining what he thought was an Undertaker mannequin. But it was actually the real Undertaker, and the Phenom reached up, grabbing Orton by the neck. Undertaker threw him into the casket, prompting the Ortons to retreat. Obviously, this rivalry is far from over.

How will the mind games continue when Randy and Bob Orton team up to take on Undertaker in a Handicap Casket Match on Oct. 9? Be sure to order No Mercy live on pay-per-view to find out.

Fatal Four Way Match For The United States Championship
October 9th, 2005

At SummerSlam, Chris Benoit made history by making Orlando Jordan tap out in 25.5 seconds. As Benoit continued to better that record in subsequent weeks, both Booker T and Christian stepped up with claims that they deserved a shot at Benoit. While Christian pinned Benoit during a tag team match, Booker, spurred on by Sharmell, felt that if Benoit was really his friend, the champion would grant him a title shot.

Everything came to a head on the Sept. 30 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, when Booker interrupted the Peep Show and argued with Christian. When Jordan crashed the party as well, Theodore Long stepped in and said he would allow Benoit to choose who he should face at No Mercy, and ordered a Triple Threat Match between the trio to help the champion decide.

After Jordan pulled out the victory, Benoit made his decision. Being a fighting champion, he would give all three of them a chance to claim the championship in a Fatal Four Way Match. Can The Rabid Wolverine overcome three opponents to retain the gold, or will there be a new champion crowned? Don't miss No Mercy on October 9 to find out.

Rey Mysterio vs. JBL
October 9th, 2005

Lately, JBL has seemingly fallen on hard times. After failing to capture the World Heavyweight Championship on multiple occasions, a loss to Rey Mysterio on the Sept. 16 edition of Friday Night SmackDown drove JBL to seek some advice.

Enter Jillian. JBL hired MNM's "fixer" to help his image. The next week, JBL made a grand re-appearance, riding a white horse down to the ring during a match between Rey Mysterio and Ken Kennedy. The "new" JBL appearance distracted Mysterio long enough for Kennedy to pick up the victory.

On Sept. 30, JBL topped the previous week by coming out dressed in a sombrero and poncho, insulting the mostly Hispanic crowd in Laredo, Texas. JBL stated he had issues with people like Mysterio, who lie to their children and hide from the INS. After promising to beat Mysterio at No Mercy in the name of great Americans, JBL got a leg up when he and Kennedy defeated Rey and Hardcore Holly.

Will Mysterio be able to overcome the "new" JBL, or will he merely be a stepping stone on JBL's way back to the top? Find out at No Mercy on October 9.

L.O.D. & Christy Hemme vs. MNM
October 9th, 2005

The Great American Bash was a bittersweet night for MNM. On one hand, Melina defeated Torrie Wilson in a Bra and Panties Match, furthering her claim of being the dominant Diva on SmackDown. On the other hand, Mercury and Nitro lost the WWE Tag Team Championship to the duo of Road Warrior Animal & Heidenreich.

While MNM tried unsuccessfully to regain the championship, Torrie and Candice were eventually traded to RAW, and Christy Hemme arrived on SmackDown as a new challenge for Melina. After the Divas had an altercation in the parking lot before the Sept. 30 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Melina defeated Christy thanks to some help from Mercury and Nitro.

When an enraged Christy attacked Melina after the closing bell, Mercury and Nitro jumped in to help out. MNM had Christy ready for the Snapshot, but perpetual rivals L.O.D. stormed the ring to save the fiery redhead. The challenge was laid down and accepted, and now MNM has a chance at revenge when they face Christy and L.O.D. in a Six-Person Tag Team Match at No Mercy.

Can L.O.D. continue their winning ways against MNM, or will the former champions be picture perfect? Don't miss No Mercy on October 9 to find out.

Simon Dean vs. Bobby Lashley
October 9th, 2005

On the Sept. 23 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Simon Dean laid out an open challenge. He got more than he bargained for, however, when Bobby Lashley answered the call. Lashley was up to the task, defeating Dean in an impressive SmackDown debut.

One week later, Dean admitted that Lashley had impressed him, and informed Lashley that they would have a rematch at No Mercy. Dean then offered Lashley some free Simon System products; the offer was refused, and Simon ended up getting press slammed to the floor by the powerful newcomer.

Can Lashley make it two for two against Simon, or will the Simon System help Dean triumph? Find out at No Mercy on October 9.
