Default WWE Judgement Day 2004

As the old cliche goes, Judgement Day is going to be upon us. I remember Judgement Day 2003 like yesterday. It being the first wrestling PPV that I could watch on my TV in years and years. Before that, the last one I had seen was Invasion. So needless to say, this is also the PPV where I can finally say that once again I've been watching wrestling PPVs for a year in a row with this PPV. The only difference that occured in that period was going from being able to watch it all on my TV, to downloading everything to my harddrive.

Only one match official so far:

"Eddie Guerrero has something John Bradshaw Layfield wants - the WWE Championship. On Sunday, May 16, live on pay-per-view, JBL will try to strip Latino Heat of that very Championship because, according to Bradshaw, Guerrero does not have enough class to represent WWE as its Champion. That being said, JBL has his sights set on beating Guerrero for the title and giving the American people a Champion that they can get behind. Will the new attitude of John Bradshaw Layfield lift him over the reigning WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero? Or will Latino Heat continue to rule SmackDown!? There is only one way to find out. Order Judgment Day, live on pay-per-view, on Sunday, May 16."

Or download it for free if you live in a country like mine where they refuse to sell this stuff to us. heh. No disrespect to the WWE though. They can't help that the media over here is useless.

Anyways, I think this feud is gonna be fun. I'm looking forward to seeing this thing. Both guys walk around with a smile on their faces all day long, which I think is pretty original. It's not your typical "we're pissed off at eachother, look how the steam is coming out of our ears" kinda thing. They both have great characters.

Judging from the posted up there, we're gonna have an Undertaker appearance too. Yay for that. I wonder what they're planning. Perhaps a feud with the Big Show? Can't wait to see how all that develops.

I'm willing to bet that the internet sites are already providing everyone with the details, so to those who went to read all that I may come off ignorant now. Doesn't matter though, cause I've found out that reading all that stuff takes away 70% of the fun in watching wrestling shows. And when that happens, I start to dislike everything so much that I end up not bothering to download anything anymore. No fun. So don't expect any spoilers from me.

So on to other potential matches. I'm still in the middle of watching SmackDown from last Thursday, so this is gonna be a guessing game. I like wrestling guessing games.

I'm thinking John Cena's gonna be whooping the French man. And he'll probably do the opening match again, since he's good at that.

What's up with Rico and Haas as tag champions, lol. That was hilarious, that Rico is one crazy mofo. I love Haas' facial expressions too. Perhaps these two guys will start feuding Rikishi and Scotty a little more cause of the tag titles.

The RVD / Booker T thing seems to be going a little slow. They're either not gonna be feuding into the PPV, or something interesting should develop in that area. But a good build up or not, those two are awesome to see in the ring against eachother. I loved every move in both matches.

I wonder what Kurt Angle's future will be. Perhaps he's gonna be the one to decide that in order to cast out his vengence at the Big Show, he'll book him in a match with the Undertaker at the PPV. Or something. lol

What about that complete opposite version of the Undertaker they call Mordecai? That seems to be quite interesting as well.

That's about all I can think of right now. Perhaps I'll add more when SmackDown is finished.

EDIT: Or the Undetaker is gonna go after Booker T

Hmmm. Here's what I'd like to see happen.

John Cena VS Rene Dupree.
Two very evenly matched athletes. Dupree has US title potential. Let's see.

Undertaker & Big Show VS Kurt Angle
I''ve a feeling Taker will turn heel and team up again with Big Show.

I remember Judgment Day 2003 very well also. That was a quality PPV and Smackdown! has quite a task on its hands to try to live up to it, in my humble opinion.

Last year, Brock defeated Big Show in a Stretcher Match, Eddie and Tajiri won the Tag Titles in a Ladder Match against the World's Greatest Tag Team. And of course, the IC Title made it's long-awaited return in a Battle Royal. Christian won by screwing Booker T.

This year's event already has an intriguing main event. I'm very interested to see if Eddie can keep his title reign going.

And as for Mordecai, I get more and more intrigued every time I hear about him. So are they marketing him as Undertaker's exact opposite? If so, that's very interesting and I would expect Mordecai to make some reference to Taker in a big way at J-Day. I can't wait to see what this guy is all about!

Spoiler!
Big Show to be out at 5 or 6 months after having knee surgery last Tuesday, according to prowrestling.com
that was the whole point for the I Quit match againest Eddie. So I think he is gonna out for awhile.

^^^So we'll see what happens with that. If Eddie loses to JBL I will be so pissed. I cannot stand the new Bradshaw. I loved the APA one alot better. Oh well, just my opinion. I can see Cena againest Frenchie LOL!

This might turn out to be a great PPV!!

Hmm, that would screw up the balance on SmackDown a lot though. Angle would need a Booker T as a partner then heh. Though I feel he should stick to his GM job first. I can't wait to see what'll happen on next week's SmackDown.

Brock with the fork lift. Wasn't there a match with Hogan in it too? As that Mr. America figure? That was so lame, heh.

I'm guessing it'll be a very exciting matchup. Anything can happen at this point.

Well that's my interpretation of his promos. He's like this representative of God that was sent down to face all the evil and eliminate it. Perhaps also the Big Evil? And the whole gothic feel to it, and him being entirely in white, while the Undertaker is always in black...

It could be that we're looking at the guy whom the Undertaker is going to put over eventually, much like Mick Foley put over Randy Orton.

Brock with the forklift was so fucking hilarious! Oh my God, seriously. And yeah, Hogan had a match against Roddy Piper. He wrestled as Mr. America, the lamest, most intelligence-insulting excuse for a gimmick I've ever seen. You don't even know the half of my hatred for that character. I'm glad Hogan is gone.

Well if that's the case, and he's being given a God-like power, it would be quite hard to imagine him ever losing, don't you think? For this reason, I seem to think that the man playing this character may not be a rookie. Rookies usually are not given a gimmick so clearly made of gold. However, this may be a one-of-a-kind prospect like Brock, Goldberg, and Taker who the fans could easily get behind and will climb the ladder quickly.

If he's supposed to be the good version of Taker, I would expect him to go after more obvious evils at first since Taker is a definite fan favorite right now. Then Taker would have to be turned heel so that he is truly doing evil. Then Mordecai would have reason to go after him.

God damn! I haven't even seen the promos for this guy and I am pondering about him like crazy.

Here's something odd. What is, in my opinion, the best story and most enticing match on the Judgment Day card, is only the 3rd most anticipated match. I'm talking about the main event (Eddie vs. Bradshaw). The Undertaker/Booker T match has the most votes by a landslide and the first appearance of Mordecai (this man has never even appeared live yet) is more anticipated than the match for the World Title. I'm a bit confused. Anyway, here is the poll as of about a minute ago.

Undertaker vs. Booker T- 41.69%
Mordecai- 20.58%
Eddie vs. Bradshaw (WWE Title)- 11.53%
John Cena vs. Rene Dupree (US Title)- 11.50%
Dawn Marie vs. Torrie Wilson- 5.48%
RVD and Rey Mysterio vs. The Dudleyz- 4.54%
Chavo Guerrero vs. Jacqueline (Cruiserweight Title)- 2.99%
Charlie Haas and Rico vs. Billy Gunn and Hardcore Holly (Tag Titles)- 1.64%

So...there are good things and bad things that I can think of according to these results. One good thing is that yet another newcomer is in a good spot to become wildly popular. Eugene's popularity is skyrocketing on RAW. And Mordecai has garnered a lot of attention without even appearing live yet. That's a good thing.

Another good thing is that Taker is now more popular than ever. If he continues to stay on TV, things will be good.

The bad: a match between Dawn Marie and Torrie Wilson with absolutely no story whatsoever is more anticipated than three other matches. What's the reason? Nobody cares about the stories of the others, I suppose. Tag Title match...nobody cares. It was just thrown together at the last week just for the sake of a title defense. They're just thinking, "ummmm...who do we have? Nobody? Just throw Bob and Billy together." All the stuff happening between the Dudleyz and RVD is unoriginal and repetitive. And then there's the Cruiserweight Title, which virtually nobody cares about anymore. Put it on Spike Dudley. That'd be something new.

Booker T/Taker and Mordecai are both very interesting to see. But I don't know why they're so much more anticipated than the match for the WWE Title, which has a killer storyline going and a TON of heat developed.

STRAIGHT TO THE POINT PREDICTIONS

Bradshaw
Undertaker
Mordecai (against whoever he faces)
Cena
Dawn Marie (cheating)
Haas and Rico
Dudleyz
Chavo
