| WWE Brand Extension:keep it or bin it?!? | | i personally think the brand extension hasn't worked from day 1, the moment i heard about it i thought it was a bad idea, and a huge risk, and i never once even thought about changing my mind.
i think the extension put huge limitations on what the WWE could do, match-wise and gimmick-wise.
and now rumours seem to be surfacing that the brand extension is on the brink of being scrapped (thank god)...so what do y'all think, keep it or bin it? |

| Keep it damnit
It's a great way to give a lot more wrestlers more time and chances ... since the brand extension ... look what happened here with Lesnar, Bubba Ray Dudley, Batista, new talents like Cena and Orton, Jeff Hardy's push, Flair going at it again ... I love it |

| Keep it! That is not the reason that the ratings are down, changing it will do nothing. |

| well, what would u account for the terrible ratings and dwindling interest then?
from where i sit, it seems to me that the audience has decreased since the introduction of the extension, but maybe im wrong. |

| Here is what we can thank for the low ratings...
Video Games
Online
Spoilers
Other Shows
Wrestling hit a peak point in the late 90's and now it is going down, like it has done in the past. In a few years it will gain popularity back but i do not blame the story lines for the ratings what-so-ever. |

| but those things have been around for a while now, and they can't be the main blame as they were around during the WWF's popular period a couple of years or so ago. |

| I also blame the lack of ratings on the apparent "fucking up" of the Invasion storyline. Apparently, the WCW and ECW superstars were not portrayed with their true, successful characteristics. A prime example would have to be Austin's turn to a heel role in which he was portrayed as an ass kisser. This likely discouraged many fans and caused them to slowly lose interest.
I also blame the inconsistent dedication from The Rock. When he bolted to Hollywood, several fans who watched only because of The Rock bolted from the WWF/E. He makes a comeback twice every year lately. He only seems to be around for 2 months at a time before he bolts back to the movie scene. He doesn't seem trustworthy as far as dedication to the WWE is concerned and this is probably causing many fans to lose patience waiting around for The Rock to return. So they stop watching. It's too bad that they can't appreciate all the other talent.
The only possible ways that the brand extension can be largely responsible is in the fact that not everyone has access to UPN, the station that airs Smackdown! and also in the fact that it takes away the opportunity for rivalry between certain superstars who are not on the same roster.
I don't see how the brand extension can be the entire reason for the lack of ratings. The ratings were already going down before the draft. So the main problem is probably related to something that happened before the draft took place. |
