let me ask u simple question.....could u do it???
these athletes train for years to get to their peak, and even when u reach your peak there is still no guarantee of success, this business is so hard to break into, especially when it is such a monopoly industry, dominated by the WWF. how can someone get to the top of their game in wrestling when there is only around 50 wrestlers in the entire world that can make it to the top at any one time.
to dismiss them as not real athletes is just ignorant on your part, i guarantee u that with the exception of a couple, most wrestlers are in better shape than a lot of todays athletes, and if their fitness drops then their job is in jeapordy.
in most competitive sports athletes are required to take part in a match once or maybe twice a week, whereas these athletes are sometimes required to wrestle 4 or 5 times a week.
i remember Bret Hart saying in his documentary, when someone said "it's so fake, they don't even hurt each other", and he responded with "that's the whole point, if you hurt your opponent then u are doing your job badly."
there are so many different elements that go into making a great wrestler: athletisism, charisma, acting ability, care for your fellow man, awareness etc...
i don't mind people not likin wrestling, but it really grates on me when people dismiss it as a non respectful form of entertainment. let me tell u it is just like any other form of entertainment, except that these ATHLETES, yeah that's right i said athletes, are required to perform their entertainment LIVE, they also don't get a second take if they do it wrong, a second take in wrestling is also known as an ambulance.
