Tonight there are a couple of matches in the Wothington Cup:
Birmingham City .v. Preston North End.
Manchester United .v. Leicester.
Wigan .v. Manchester City.
Here's an article from bbc.co.uk:
David Beckham is expected to start Manchester United's Worthington Cup match against Leicester on Tuesday despite the recent security scare surrounding his family.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes a swift return to action at Old Trafford will benefit the England captain. Beckhams review security options
"If we felt it was necessary for him to take a break then we would allow him to do so," said Ferguson.
"But at the moment things seem to be under control and the police have done their jobs, so there is no danger.
"The events of the past two days have been quite dramatic and of great concern but I don't think resting him is the thing to do.
"He is happy being occupied in his football - that is the thing David loves most of all."
Ferguson will name a stronger side for the Worthington Cup than in recent seasons.
He is expected to make just "three or four" changes from the team which defeated Southampton on Saturday, with Laurent Blanc and Fabien Barthez likely to stand down.
The team may resemble the side that lost to Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League last week, with Kieran Richardson, Mads Timm and Daniel Nardiello featuring.
"I will be playing a mixture of first-team and reserves," said Ferguson.
"We could have played an entire reserve team but I am looking at things a little differently because we want to show the right spirit." |
