Hmm Rep of Ireland will make it. I know they can but without Roy for the Swiss game, it doesnt get any harder.

After several years George Boateng (Middlesbrough) is back with the national team for the match against Czech Republic.

Van Bommel didn't get an invitation from Van Basten and I seriously doubt whether he'll ever play for Holland again ...

How's the British media towards Erikkson? Will there be consequences for him, if England doesn't end #1 in their group?

English media = hostile.

I get the feeling that if England don't reach the World Cup, then Sven will be up for the chop.. Even if we do reach the WC - which I have high confidence that we will (2 homes games, max. 6 points - win both and we'll be first) - then I doubt Sven will be in a favourable position unless we win the tournament. Which is a shame as he has a very good record in competative matches. The match against N.Ireland was only our 3rd defeat (excluding friendlies and matches that went past 90 minutes), with the only other 2 against the World Champions Brazil and the fluke of France.

The fluke of France do seem to be in a better position to reach the WC than England. And they're more effective in winning their matches with a good GD as result (9-1). Thuram & Zidane joined the national French team again, Nedved cancelled his participation with the Czech Republic (again! ), any English big names making a comeback? Gascoigne?

I wish you all the best this weekend, although Wednesday's match will be the toughest one. And we (Holland) only need 1 point.

Surely 14-4 is a better GD!?

Sol Campbell. If I were Sven, I'd place him alongside Terry in the centre of defense. Ferdinand has been a little off form of late and we need our team to be at their top form in the next 2 matches.

I think the media (and certain members of the public) are totally overreacting with our position. We have 2 matches left - Poland only have one and that's against us! Although we do have to win both games to finish 1st, our destiny is in our own hands, so confidence should be high. In theory and on paper we have a stronger side than Austria and Poland, so I see no reason why we shouldn't end up in 1st place.

If we do finish 2nd, then I think (atm) that we have the 2nd best 2nd placed team, and so we'd qualify anyway .. but there are still 2 matchdays to go!

No matter what happens, it'll be exciting to see what other teams make it through their groups - particularly in Groups 2, 4 and 7; where things are quite close.

Poland have a much better GD (26-7)!

I think Denmark have a good chance against Greece, good luck Pernille!
