Simply a great match. Not much in terms of scoring, but Italy sure had the chances. A few times jumping when I thought Italy scored, but what a time to score. A few moments from the end of extra time. As time ticked away I thought they'd had to go into a shootout.

A big congratulations to Italy! Now France just need to join them in the final, and that will be a final worth watching.

Allez-y les Bleus!

A fantastic Semi-Final by Italy, a different Italy than most of us are used to. No defending, no catenaccio ...

Italy is a weird country these days when it concerns Football. They have the opportunity to grab another World Cup after 1982, but in the few weeks after July 9th, the Italian Football probably won't be the same again.

Juventus, Serie C?
Milan, Serie B?
Lazio Roma, Serie B?
Fiorentina, Serie B?

It's a very interesting situation.

But you have to feel sorry for the German not a good way to lose at the last overtime minutes.

I watched the game on a little screen on my t.v with other channels around it lol there was no sound but looking at it was okay lol since none of my other channels work stupid ass satilite grrrrr I was sure that they would go to the penality kicks as I was about to leave the door to go to school my dad screamed that Italy scored and when went to check it was another score I was like shocked that they won at the last minute lol. So yeah congrates to Italy

now I hope that Portugal will lose and France will win

Go France Go

Italy - Germany was quite possibly the best match of this World Cup to date! (and there are only 3 more chances to better it). It was great to see Italy really go at Germany. They played the ball around very well, exploited the space that was being given to them and quite often made the Germans look a bit average. Germany played well in an attacking sense as well, but they hardly found their way around the Italian defensive wall during the first 90 minutes, only in extra-time did they really create some very clear cut chances, but Poldoldski couldn't deliver.

I thought the Italians deserved it. The goals were fantastic!! .. even if we did have to wait 119 minutes to see them.

My city (yes, I am back in my town!!!) went INSANE. In fact they are still going insane. And the funniest part was that the police were just watching chaos pure and didn't interfere and were just happy. IT WAS THE BEST! I am so insanely happy. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. Thank YOU SO MUCH!

Did you get my text last night?

With the way they've been playing since the knockout stages began, it would make for a great spectacle!

It would have been even harsher for a team to lose on penalties, especially after the quality of the match.

Looking at the records of both sides on penalties, Italy have only ever won one shoot-out, whereas Germany have only ever lost one.. so the form suggested one result, which would have been very harsh considering the way the Italians played.

Might we see a record points tally for Serie C!? .. or is it more likely a vast majority of Juves big players will leave to make the quality of the team quite average! Its going to be one very interesting Italian Football season.

One of the worst teams of the 2006 WC IMO, along with Saudi Arabia of course..

Totally agreed! If Eriksson brought along more strikers, you maybe could have played 4-3-3?! Although I'm not too thrilled about Bent and Defoe either, they're not World class strikers ...
I'll go knock on his successor's door, as Blatter is a strange little man.

It would have been more like 3-3-3 against Portugal, or 4-3-2. What Bent and Defoe offer England are two quality strikers who can be brought on in the second-half to add something to the match if things aren't going so well.

Beckham was over the hill by about 2002 or 2003. Lennon or Wright-Phillips should hopefully see more chances down the right hand side now that McLaren has taken over.

Fine if I caused offence to anyone, I am sorry. Anyway back to the World Cup.
Cool. As long as we can keep a friendly and respectable atmosphere in here, its great!

And don't forget the amazing goalkeeper Buffon. This tournament he has convinced me he's currently the best goalkeeper in the world!

The main reason why Lippi brought on strikers, he wanted to score in extra time and with Gilardino, Iaquinta & Del Piero he has the quality.
He even has Inzaghi on the bench!

I don't exactly know what will happen with the player's status if Juventus, for example, relegate. Will a club need to pay a fee or are they free to move to another club?

Fabio Capello --> new coach of Real Madrid!

Considering they have won many matches in that same way over the years, I thought it was only fitting for them to make their exit like that for a change.
