That Sweden match was a bore. I switched off.

Does someone know the status of Michael Owen? How bad is the injury?

And why did Eriksson bring Crouch after 5 minutes, when he didn't want to let him play, 'cause he had already been booked once and in the case he'd get another yellow card, he would have been suspended for the next round ...

And when he substituted Rooney in the second half, which he apparently didn't like , he brought Gerrard? That makes me wonder why he brought Theo Walcott along. Let him play, this was a good opportunity!

I believe Michael Owen is going to be out for six months. He was never fit to begin with. Sure he hasnt even seen Walcott play before the tournament started so why would he pick him for this.

I bet Walcott wont get a game at all at this World Cup.

England 2-2 Sweden
Better for England, but still not quite good enough. We played well in the first-half and Sweden didn't have a lot of chances. Rooney showed his class with one particular move, but a defesive block prevented him from scoring. Joe Cole scored what should be one of the goals of the tournament!! His long range effort dipped perfectly to go into the top right hand corner - the keeper got a finger or two to it, but that made no difference.

Sweden equalised not long into the second-half from a corner, which really sprang them to life. After that they hit the crossbar twice from corners and played the better attacking Football for about 15-20 minutes. Then the game settled down a bit.. England created a few attacking moves, and then, with about 5 minutes left Gerrard headed England into the lead. It wasn't to be England's day though, as more sloppy defending let in Larsson to equalise for the Swedes. We still can't beat them.. we haven't done so since 1968 at Wembley, so its a good thing this was only a group game!

Paraguay 2-0 Trinidad & Tobago
With the match between England & Sweden ending as a draw, T&T would be out.. They weren't to know this at the start of the evening thiugh, but didn't have enough left in them to get anything out of this match. For a team that put so much into group B, they go home with only a point, and with no goals scored.. Its a shame.

Group B Final Table
1. England. +3. 7.
2. Sweden. +1. 5.
3. Paraguay. 0. 3.
4. T&Tobago. -4. 1.

2nd Round
Saturday 24th June
Germany .v. Sweden (16:00)

Sunday 25th June
England .v. Ecuador (16:00)

Owen has had such wretched luck this year..

I think Walcott should have been brought on for Rooney.. but then again, Eriksson was a fool to bring him to the WC. Defoe would have been a much better player to have brought, and we also should have brought 5 strikers instead of 4. We have Rooney playing well now and in a great mood!! .. and many midfielders who know where the back of the net is, so all is still well.
