I was pretty bored during Germany - Ecuador B. Yes, Ecuador B. Otherwise the Germans would not have fun this easily.

Only if Argentina end 2nd in their Group. Then they could meet Brazil in the Semi-Final. If they end 1st, as the organisation probably expected , the Final is the only way they could meet the Brazil.

Germany 3-0 Ecuador B
Ecuador didn't really turn up today, and so Germany had it easy. Klose got on the scoring sheet twice and Podolski opened his World Cup account. Ecuador came close on a few long range efforts and free-kicks, but rarely troubled the German defence. Even with a 12th man (the German crowd) I still don't see Germany going much farther. They haven't managed to beat a major Footballing nation for 6 years, and have progressed through arguably the easiest group. Up against an England or Sweden side playing at their best, Germany are likely to struggle.

In a way the score should be Poland 3-0 Ecuador B .. both scorers for Germany are Polish born.

Costa Rica 1-2 Poland
Poland win twice in one day! .. and secure the wooden spoon for Group A, but they had to come from a goal down to do it.

Ok, it's time for me to go on a rant about the timing of Austrian TV. Ok, so for 98% of the time they showed the England - Sweden match. However, in those 2% that they showed the other game, 2 of the 4 goals were scored. Once that beautiful goal by Cole and once the last goal of the game by Larsson. WHAT THE HELL! And always when they went to the other game, absolutely NOTHING exciting was happening in that one. Baaah. Oh well.

Overall the England-Sweden match was very enjoyable. Of course my predictions today were just terrible, but that would figure after yesterday's success.
