2nd Round:
USA 1-3 Italy
China 2-3 Germany

It's a surprise the USA got already knocked out, it seems the Italians grow in the tournament? Goodbye already to Freddy Adu.

China's loss is also surprising to me, but that's what makes Football entertaining, right?

Well do the USA have anyone apart from Adu?

Obviously Adu is the man who gets all the attention. He's 16, plays awesome Football (although we haven't seen it on this WC), earns 400.000 euros at DC United and has a 4-year deal with Nike from which he gets 800.000 euros.

Still, there's also Chad Barrett, a striker as well. But besides that, it's mainly the collective which makes a country play well and advance to several rounds. You can have a big star, or more (Real Madrid), but when it's not a team you won't come far. Unfortunately the USA weren't as well as Italy last night, I can't give you a good reason why not though. Luck?

2nd Round
Brazil 1-0 Syria
Morocco 1-0 Japan

Morocco left it late (90th minute!) but scrape through against Japan.

Columbia 1-2 Argentina
Nigeria 1-0 Ukraine

Argentina came back from 1-0 down and left it until the 90th minute to book their place in the quarter-finals.

Quarter-Final line-up
Morocco .v. Italy
Germany .v. Brazil
Nigeria .v. Holland/Chile
Argentina .v. Spain/Turkey

We could be in for a fantastic Quarter-Final line-up! (especially if Holland and Spain make it through)

And everybody in Holland is expecting a victory for the Dutchies.

Argentina have a tough schedule. Columbia and now possibly Spain ... interesting indeed.

Looks to be some really good games there. Hope Holland and Spain make it through. Tough game for Brazil.

2nd Round
Holland 3-0 Chile
Spain 3-0 Turkey

Comfortable wins for Holland and Spain leave us with a very strong Quarter-Final line-up! I wish this tournament was being shown in the UK.

Italy 2-2 Morocco (Morocco win 5-4 on penalties)
Morocco seem to have a very strong team. Italy were pretty lucky in their group and now they were lucky again. Italy got 2 penalties in the match, but keeper Bourkadi saved.

After extra time, penalties again. Italy's 1st was being saved and so was the 2nd. Pelle (Italian and the new Zlatan) scored a la Panenca. It was exciting and thrilling and the first Quarter Final of an already historical tournament.

Brazil 2-1 Germany
Brazil's A-team is much better than the youngsters. But Tardelli, Renato and Rafael (to name some) should not be underestimated at all. Brazil came back after being 0-1 down and they did that with the Brazilian way of Football. Rafael's goal in the 99th minute made him the deserved matchwinner.

Nigeria 1-1 Holland (Nigeria win 10-9 on penalties)
A full stadium coloured orange. As said earlier, everyone's expecting a simple win. Unfortunately the Nigerian players were better (in taking penalties). The black people, who look like they're at least 30, scored the first goal after 40 seconds.

Holland came and fought back by scoring in the 2nd half (after 1 minute). Two and a half hours were gone and both countries had to take penalties ... the whole team did, including the keeper! We lost, again due to penalties ...

Argentina 3-1 Spain
Thrilling, better than the other two and a fantastic way to end the Quarter Final stage. Two title candidates fighting for a Semi-Final place. Juan Fran and Llorente didn't impress, Cardozo, Messi and Obermann did though. Especially Lionel Messi!

It's too bad this tournament isn't broadcasted in other countries, 'cause I see amazing Football and fantastic players. And we'll see some of them in the big national teams soon.

This was GJ's review of the QF stage: THE END.

Semi-Final:
Brazil 1-2 Argentina

Not such a good match. When Messi was on the ball, I came up from my seat though. Brazil played without any believe that they could reach the Final. They played with 4 defenders and 2 defensive midfielders and no targetman. In other words, they deserve to be out!

Tonight's the other Semi-Final between Nigeria and Morocco.
