So from that I get that no matter what 2 of the 3 teams go through. But then you say:
"If two teams are level then it comes to goal difference or goals scored."
Does that now mean that only one group goes through, or that say, one team goes on and the other two are tied, they start counting the goal difference, to see which of the two goes on along with the other one?
I'm confused. |
OK. Here is an example: (first number is amount of points, second is goal difference)
1. England. 9, +5.
2. Argentina. 6, +2.
3. Sweden. 3, -1.
4. Nigeria. 0, -6.
England and Argentina would go through as they are first and second, Sweden and Nigeria would go out.
But, if this were the case:
1. England. 9, +5.
2. Argentina. 4, +1.
3. Sweden. 4, 0.
4. Nigeria. 0, -6.
Then it would be Argentina going through as their goal difference is greater.
If both Argentina and Sweden had the same goal difference then the team that had scored the most goals would go through.
If these were the results:
Argentina 3-1 Nigeria
England 2-0 Sweden
Sweden 2-0 Nigeria
Argentina 0-2 England
Sweden 1-1 Argentina
Nigeria 0-3 England
....then Argentina will have scored 4 goals and Sweden only 3, and as they ahve the same goal difference (0) then Argentina will go through because they have scored more goals.
BTW - These results and tables do not reflect what will happen, or what has happened, but they do reflect what should have happened and what should happen.
