Intertoto Cup Finals, 1st leg, Results
Lille 0-0 Leiria
Schalke 2-1 Liberec
Villarreal 2-0 Atletico

Villarreal have a great position to be in the UEFA Cup again this season. One away goal at Athletico could be enough to send them through. The other matches look like they could be close. I'd fancy Liberec to put Schalke out.

A few shocks in the 2nd Qualifying round tonight, several good sides out already. It just goes to show no sides in Europe are to be underestimated.

It's a shame neither of the British clubs made it. Dunfermline were 1-0 up at one stage with 10 minutes to go, but a dodgy goal that appeared to be offside drew the Icelandic side level .. with the winner being struck in the 90th minute. It was a cruel blow for the Scottish side, but they didn't put in such a great performance.

The draw tommorow will be at 12:30 CET with 80 teams involved. The teams have been split into 5 groups of 10, with 5 seeded and 5 unseeded teams in each group to be drawn against each other. I believe the idea of this is that the 5 winners involving the teams named 'Group A', will become the 5 teams in Group A at the Group Stage, which follows the 1st round. The groups are here ----> http://www.uefa.com/competitions/UEF...Id=218624.html

I'm looking forward to seeing who the English clubs could face.

Newcastle .v. Sakhnin?
Millwall .v. Odd Grenland?
Middlesbrough .v. Alkmaar?

Hehe.

Our of the British clubs, I reckon Newcastle and Middlesbrough have the easiest ties. Millwall's opponents will be very tricky. I would love for them to make it into the group stage, but it will be tough.

Nice to see a Norway .v. Holland tie.

Odd Grenland ... seems an easy match for Feyenoord. Chris, how are they doing in the competition?
