Cool

Fairly good night for the British teams. I didn't watch any live matches, I didn't even listen to the matches on the radio, was busy!

Liverpool's 3-0 against Olimpija was good, but it was expected against that team.

Man. City and Newcastle both with 1-0 away wins, they progress but Newcastle look the more convincing to go further.

Hearts make it through as well after a 0-0 draw in Zeljeznicar.

Blackburn could only manage 1-1 as their poor run of form continued. I expected them to do a bit better this season.

Southampton can be proud of getting to the UEFA Cup and putting up a good display against Steaua, losing by one goal is still a good result for the Saints.

Dundee had a tough task after the first leg and in the end it was a bit to much for them to beat Perugia away.

Me neither. Apparently lots of Liverpool fans were praising how well their team was playing on radio five later in the evening, not saying it's a bad thing, but looks like they're looking too much into a game that Liverpool were bound to win and play well in anyway. If anything they should be praising Southampton for putting up an impressive display in Bucharest against a team they weren't guarunteed to get a result against.

Liverpool should have done better in the first leg, these are the teams that they should be beating. Wonder who they will draw in the next round.

Indeed, although it's not surprising to see Liverpool struggle ....

Liverpool should draw a team like Barcelona! but I think I read somewhere that they keep the top teams apart in the early rounds.

Yes, that is a joke cause usually the failed CL teams go on to do quite well. For example 2002, Feyenoord beat Dortmund 3-2 in the final, both teams finished third in their CL group. The same happened in 2000 when Galatasary beat Arsenal on penalties.

I dont agree with them joining the Uefa Cup, once they are out of the CL, they should be out of Europe.

When is the draw for the second round?

I didn't get to watch any matches last night but it seems like the teams I expected to get through did.
