Default Tennis Tour 2005

A new year and a new tennis thread. We're all counting the days until the Australian Open 2005 starts.

To make sure everyone is prepared well, some small tournaments are already going on. And the biggest surprise in one of those is Myskina. The Russian lost her match from Peng (Chinese) with 6-1 and 6-3. We'll have to wait and see how that continues at the first Grand Slam of 2005.

No Belgians are participating this year ... they're still recovering from injuries.

17th January 2005 ... 6 days to go!

Good idea, I thought of that before I went on holiday.

A good idea indeed.

Henman won his first match of 2005 today - 6-1 7-5 against Nalbandian. He'll face Roger Federer on Friday.

Btw - new F1 thread coming up soon, with the PL of course.

Nice. Do we also get to see new boots?

We have another player in the female tenniscircuit ... Michaela Krajicek. She has qualified for the Australian Open 2005!

I dont think its too bad, I think the tennis outfit itself is really nice and looks really good on her, those boots are just to warm up in.

This is what Serena has to say about her outfit!

On Thursday, Serena paraded the outfit and then stepped out of the dress to reveal what she'll be wearing underneath at the Open: a top and shorts that are just "ideal" for practice.

Unconventional? "You bet," says Serena.

Like the black knee-high warmup boots that made headlines at the last U.S. Open, the new and improved lime green-and-white knee-highs can be unzipped and removed between the warmup and a match.

"My legs take a little longer to warm up than the next opponent, so it's perfect for me, they'll keep me warm and then I'll be able to blast off," she said.

Back to Federer for a minute...

Roger Federer reinforced his position as runaway favourite for the Australian Open as he beat Andy Roddick for the fifth time in succession to win the Kooyong Classic Saturday.

The 6-4, 7-5 scoreline for the superlative Swiss left no doubt that the winner of three of last year's four Grand Slams will be off to a fighting start at 2005's first major.

Federer dealt with nine Roddick aces as he defeated his world number two rival with another efficient display.
