| This is excellent!
Carlos Moya clinched Spain's second Davis Cup victory in their history here on Sunday with a majestic straight sets victory over US world number two Andy Roddick.
Moya, who missed Spain's 2000 maiden win over Australia in Barcelona, won 6-2, 7-6 (7/1), 7-6 (7/5) to spark wild celebrations at Seville's Olympic Stadium as the hosts took an unbeatable 3-1 lead. |

| Belgium's Kim Clijsters has pulled out of next month's Australian Open because of a wrist injury, it was reported Thursday.
Tournament chief executive Paul McNamee told Melbourne's Herald-Sun newspaper that last year's runner-up decided not to contest the year's first Grand Slam after her wrist failed to respond to treatment.
"Kim's wrist obviously isn't going to be rehabilitated in time for the first grand slam of the new season," McNamee told the newspaper. We wish her all the best at what must be a difficult time and hope to see her fit and back playing on the tour again in 2005."
Clijsters' absence from the Australian Open is another setback for the Belgian's attempt to come back from the injury to her left wrist, which has forced her to take long layoffs this year and seen her world ranking plummet to 22.
McNamee also said Jelena Dokic would not compete at the Australian Open.
Dokic has been a no-show at the tournament since 2001, when she accused officials of stacking the draw against her after she lost in the first round.
She subsequently renounced her Australian citizenship to play for her birthplace Serbia-Montenegro.
The Australian Open begins on January 17. |

| I don't see Kimmy getting back very easily. How are things with Henin, I haven't heard from her for a while ...
Hopefully Sharapova is participating at the Australian Open 2005. |

| From her official site:
Justine is already staying a few days in the trainingscamp of Juan Carlos Ferrero in Spain before starting her season of 2005. The news is positive, Justine is feeling good!
By travelling to Alicante, Justine was hoping that she could enjoy a better climate than in Belgium. A climate that would allow her to train outdoors, but unfortunately, she has to train indoors for the moment, because southern Spain is struck by heavy downpoor.
"We have no luck because it rains all the time and Justine was only able to train outdoors for one day. We spent the rest of the time indoors. But from Monday on, it should get better”, Carlos Rodriguez explained.
“The trainings go well, Justine makes good progress, she’s tired because it’s tough, but it’s more like a healthy tiredness”, he specifies.
Justine will be back in Belgium on the court in less than two weeks! She will again have a taste of the competion on the Women Tennis Trophy (BE). This is a tournament that will take place on December 18th and 19th in the Spiroudōme of Charleroi (BE).
After this first come-back, Justine will train another three weeks in Tampa, Florida. This should allow her to prepare properly for the tournament of Sydney and Melbourne. Back on track, on her way to new victories… |

| Heres another update on Kim:
Kim Clijsters was still hopeful of playing in next month's Australian Open despite reports she would not be fit.
Tournament chief executive Paul McNamee said in Melbourne that last year's runner-up had ecided not to contest the year's first Grand Slam after her wrist failed to respond to treatment.
But her spokesman said in Brussels she had simply delayed submitting her entry.
"The doctors are assessing her injury on a weekly basis and if there is no risk she could play. But if there's the least risk she will stay away," he added. |

| Andy Roddick has dropped Brad Gilbert as his coach, the American said Tuesday on his website.
Roddick had a hugely successful first year with Gilbert, who had previously coached Andre Aggassi, winning the US Open and finishing 2003 as world No 1.
He won a tour-best 74 matches this year but failed to win a Grand Slam in 2004 which was dominated by Switzerland's Roger Fererer who won the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.
"The decision to not rehire Brad Gilbert for the 2005 season is based on what I think is best for my game at this time. Any more on this situation is a private matter between coach and player," Roddick said.
"That being said, I enjoyed my time with Brad and wish him continued success in his future."
Urm, strange decision. |

Do you have any info on his new coach or will he now be coaching himself? |
