Okay, she isnt too old, lol, I am nearly her age!
She started at a young age. Back in the late 90's she was, together with Hingis (who also started very young), the best of the world.

27 is not old, yet it's old enough to have had your best years behind you in a sport discilpline like top tennis ...
I don't agree with that. Andre Agassi for example is 33 and still one of the best. Together with Roddick and Federer favorites for the Australian title.

Too bad to see such players meet already in the Semi's.

Roger Federer only had problems with Hewitt in the first set. Hewitt won it with 6-4. After that Federer came back and won the match in 4 sets. Impressive: Third set, 6-0.

Men's Quarter Finals

Roddick - Safin
Agassi - Grosjean
Arazi (who surprisingly defeated Philippoussis) - Ferrero
Nalbandian - Federer

Yes, but Hingis retired at the age of 22.

I was speaking in general of course, there are always exceptions

Impressive win for Federer, I thought Hewitt would do well here.

Henin's through and Mauresmo had to give up ...

I'm interested to see the outcome of the Clijsters/Myskina match

Schynder has become the third player to make it through to the Semi-Finals with a 7-6, 6-2 defeat over Raymond.

Clijsters is currently 4-0 in her match against Myskina.

At that point most people would have thought: 'this game is over' ... but no, it wasn't over that easily.

Clijsters went on to win the set, but by a score of 6-2. She dropped her serve at 5-1 up and began to look shaky in the last few games of the set.

At that point of the match I started watching. Myskina was playing some realy good tennis and Clijsters seemed to have just lost her rhythm as she went 4-0 down in the second set. She then won her first service game out of four and called on the trainer to have her right ankle looked at. After a short break the match resumed and Clijsters appeared to be in a good fighting mood. She took the next two games to bring the score to 4-3, Myskina was the player who had lost her rhythm now.

The next two games went on serve. Clijsters was battling hard and it appeared as though the injury was giving her little problem. The next two games went to Clijsters and it looked as though she would have the match very soon. Myskina had almost fallen apart. Clijsters raced into a 40-15 lead for two match points, but then Myskina pulled 4 points out of the bag to take the second set into a tie-break!

The tie-break started well for Clijsters and she soon found herself with another two match points at 6-4 .. Myskina saved them both. Myskina then had to save another before finally she got the chance to take the second set away from Clijsters .. but it was not to be. Clijsters leveled the score at 8-8 and then went on to take the tie-break 10-8 and book herself a match against Schynder.

A great second set of tennis and a brilliant performance by Clijsters, but that injury just may be too much for her.

Belgium's Kim Clijsters suffered an injury scare before battling into the last four of the Australian Open Wednesday, as Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero secured his place in the semis.

Second seed Clijsters aggravated her sore ankle during an error-strewn 6-2, 7-6 (11/9) quarter-final victory over Russian sixth seed Anastasia Myskina at the Rod Laver Arena.

Clijsters, who needed prolonged treatment with a medical time-out before recovering from 4-1 down in the second set to win, has barely 24 hours' rest before Thursday's semi with Switzerland's Patty Schnyder.

With no Australian players left in either the men's or women's draw, Clijsters is the closest thing to a home hope for local fans thanks to her engagement to Australian former world number one Lleyton Hewitt.

Hewitt, who bowed out of the competition on Monday night, was in the crowd watching nervously as Clijsters underwent treatment.

Clijsters -- and most of Australia -- are now keeping their fingers crossed there is no further reaction overnight to the player's ankle.

Any withdrawal from Clijsters would further weaken a field already missing last year's winner Serena Williams as well as former champions, Jennifer Capriati, Monica Seles and Mary Pierce.

"I'll have to see how it reacts tomorrow," Clijsters said. "I will try to ice it as much as I can today and maybe take some painkillers and anti-flammatories tomorrow to try and keep the swelling down."

Clijsters said she would be willing to risk her ankle if she felt able to play. "I have a week off after this so I might as well go for it and give myself a shot," she said.

"But on the other hand if I can't walk tomorrow it's stupid to go out there. I'm going to get it taped, see how it's feeling and test it," said Clijsters, the 20-year-old world number two.

I saw that last tiebreak in the Clijsters match ... awesome tennis. Let's hope she'll be able to continue this tournament. If not, Henin will probably be the winner. Not saying that's such a bad thing though, but without tough competition in the final.

Marat Safin is back! I'm looking forward to see his match against Agassi.
