Awesome result for Davenport again! I only caught a few minutes of the final on Eurosport, as I was planning on watching a movie, but Davenport was already 6-1 up at that stage.

I saw the last 10-15 minutes of the final last Sunday against Venus. It was a great battle between the two! I'm glad Davenport edged her out in the end.

Henman didn't have much luck today with the weather. He was due out on court early in the afternoon (Canadian time), but never even made it out at all.

Minority Report. I had it out on DVD along with The Mummy Returns and The Ring. Quite a nice deal too as I got 3 movies for the price of 2, or in other words £4! The movie was great.

I know the question wasn't directed at me, but I do think it makes tennis more exciting. More competition and different people winning in any sport, would make things more exciting!

In San Diego there's a tournament going on with many good names.

Yesterday Daniel Hantuchova got to the second round and today the seeded players got through.

S Williams (1) had a tough first set (tie break which she lost), but won the other 2 sets against Jankovic (6-7, 6-3, 6-2)

Myskina (3) won with 6-3 and 6-4.

Dementieva (5) through with 6-1 and 6-1. Impressive.

Sharapova (6) defeated Osterloh with 2 times 6-3.

A good win for Sharapova. Her first match since winning the Wimbledon title 3 weeks ago.

I was pretty surprised to see she didn't played an official match/tournament for 3 weeks. Good decision though, no need to rush things.

Henman finally got out on court yesterday and won his match against Zabaleta in straight sets 6-4 6-1. He's now likely to face two matches today due to the weather delays earlier in the week. He's facing Kuerten in the 2nd round early this evening (UK time) .. and if he wins he'll be playing a 3rd round match against either Jan Hernych or Todd Reid.

Federer, Moya, Hewitt and Roddick all made it through the 1st round.

Indeed, she deserved a rest after winning two tournaments .. but maybe the lack of action did take it's toll a little bit..

Lilia Osterloh 6-3 6-3 Sharapova

Serena, Zvonareva, Dementieva, Myskina, Sugiyama and Davenport have all made it throught the 2nd round.

I think you're little confused now Neil. As I wrote in an earlier post, Sharapova advances. And I checked two different sources. You've probably been in the sun too much.

Amelie Mauresmo however is finished, she got defeated by Molik with 5-7, 6-3, 3-6.
