| i was glad for him, must be such an emotional truimph for him after the trauma experienced. I hope he can build on this success and regain the respect and heights he attained when he made the US Open Final. that would be a fairytale finish. |

| Andre Agassi spent Sunday giving a heartfelt speech introducing wife Steffi Graf into the Tennis Hall of Fame.
It will be a while before he plans on receiving a similar honour.
Contrary to speculation, the aging Agassi, who has not won a title in 15 months, has no intention of leaving the game after next month's US Open.
"I have no plans to retire after the US Open," said Agassi, who at 34 is the oldest player on the ATP Tour. "I don't think how to choreograph the end of career."
When asked how he would like to be remembered, the eight-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1 had an insightful answer. "My mind doesn't think like that," he explained. "My mind is always focused on today and what I'm doing tomorrow."
Agassi's biggest concern at the moment is to scrape off the rust of a five-week layoff that has seen him lose in the first round in his last three tournaments, including the French Open.
After crashing out on the grass at the Queens Club on June 7, Agassi pulled out of Wimbledon to rest a bothersome right hip, the result of 18 years of court competition.
"Time off was necessary for my body, specifically my hip," he explained. Agassi gave the healing process two "thumbs up."
"It went great considering the other option was to be in pain on the court, moving at 50 percent," he said. "Between the clay and the grass, I was 30 percent the player that I expect myself to be.
"I would be grasping at straws to think I could come out and negotiate at Wimbledon. I made a tough decision but a clear one - to try to get ready for the summer and try to get myself healthy. My body seems to be used to the movements on it. Hopefully, I can play some matches and be ready for the Open."
"My body is ready to give it a go," Agassi said. "I'm tired of guessing what's in store for me. You have to start somewhere, so I can't think of a better place than right here." |

| Still recovering from a lingering virus, defending champion Justine Henin-Hardenne of Belgium has officially withdrawn from WTA tournaments in San Diego and Montreal the next two weeks.
"I was advised by my doctors to wait yet again to return to competition," Henin-Hardenne said in a statement released Tuesday at the WTA Tour event in Los Angeles. "As you can imagine, I am thoroughly disappointed.
"The past four months have been challenging. I have worked hard to try and get back onto the court as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, however, my body just needs more rest. "The only thing I can say is that I wish everyone the best of luck in San Diego and Montreal. I love both of these tournaments and hope to be back there next year."
Henin-Hardenne finished last year as the top player in the world after capturing eight titles, including Grand Slam crowns at the French Open and US Open and the WTA Tour Championships.
However, the 22-year-old Belgian lost in the second round of this year's French Open and pulled out of Wimbledon last month.
Despite the temporary setback, Henin-Hardenne continues to take steps toward recovery and could return at next month's Olympics in Athens, coach Carlos Rodriguez said on her website on Sunday. |

| Henin is still #1, so ...
Did someone see the Final last weekend between Davenport and V Williams in Stanford? AMAZING!
At the WTA tournament in Los Angeles, Serena Williams advances to the third round. Daniilidou was defeated with 6-1 and 7-6.
And Lindsay Davenport (who's leading the Women's Race 2004) beated Kremer in 2 sets. She's in a good form. |

She was thinking about quitting after this year, but this victory brings back hope for her. Those are her words. Los Angeles update:
Serena Williams advances easily, 6-0 and 6-3 against Parra Santonja. Davenport and sister Venus Williams advance as well. We could be in for another great Final if this continues. |

| In Los Angeles everyone expected a sister match between Serena and Venus, but ... it's Davenport who got between AGAIN!
It's not only thanks to her though, Venus Williams had to give up because of an injury. WTA LA Final:
Serena Williams - Lindsay Davenport
Exciting. |
