i am routing M.Sharapova in the final, i've started liking her earlier this year.

wimbledon has really taken a back seat this year, i've not watched a complete game, and no one is really talking about it. but that can be said about tennis in general, especially speaking from a south african perspective, and i am sure WORLD one as well.

Yeah, BBC have admitted the Euro 2004 has taken away from it. I havent watched that much to be honest and thats normally the one tournament I keep a close eye on.

I've not watched a lot of Wimbledon this year either, especially from the earlier rounds. I must have watched 2 or 3 hours in the whole first week (the rain delays obviously contributed to that low amount..) My mind is just distracted by other things atm to be too into the tennis. Oh well.

Federer is into the final after beating Grosjean in 3 sets. Federer was crusing in the first 2 sets, winning them 6-2 and 6-3. Grosjean made a good figth of the rain effected 3rd set. At the end of the set he broke Federer (only the 2nd time the Swiss player has lost his serve in the whole tournament) to lead 6-5. Federer fought back to take the break back and then win the tie-break 8-6. Whoever wins the Ancic - Roddick Semi-Final will have a tough time beating Federer in the final!

Atm that match stands at:

Ancic 4-6 6-4 5-7 4-3 Roddick

The women's final is currently going with serve and is quite evenly matched with Sharapova playing some magnificent tennis. I hope this keeps up for the whole match.

Maria Sharapova is the new Wimbledon Champion!! She beat Serena Williams 6-1 6-4 in an amazing display. She won 5 games in a row in the 1st set and then 4 games in a row in the 2nd to go from 4-2 down to 6-4 up! Simply brilliant.

If they meant her tennis, I agree. But I doubt that was what they meant.

Yes, I also watched not as much Wimbledon as other years. EC and the rain delays are the main reasons for that. Hopefully in 2006, things will be arranged a little different.

We have another Champion, Maria Sharapova. This is a good step for the competition in the Women's tournaments.
