Yes, it turned out to be very exciting in the end. Coria played with an injury and Gaudio didn't play the way he should.

If you have an opponent who has trouble with running, what do you do ... make sure the ball gets through the whole field/every corner and let the player run, right? Gaudio played a rally with 6-7 strokes, almost every time!

When Coria got that injury he lost the match. But it's the same as with the Russian girls, we'll hear much more from both males in the future.

I felt so sorry for Coria, my heart went out to him when he was sitting there. Life isnt fair.

Amazing match between Gaudio and Coria! It was nice to see the unseeded player win, even if he was helped by an injury to Coria. Myskina seemed to win very easily on Saturday, I hoped for a better battle between the two.

Look at the new mens rankings!

1. R.Federer
2. A.Roddick
3. G.Coria
4. D.Nalbandian
5. T.Henman

Gaudio's Grand Slam win moves him up to #10.

Surprised to see Federer hold the no 1 spot with the current form he is in, I presume Coria is now out of Queens.

Belgian Kim Clijsters will not compete at Wimbledon because of a long-term wrist injury.

The world number two was also forced to pull out of the French Open after failing to recover from a torn tendon.

"Now a cyst has developed on the wrist that means that we can kiss Wimbledon goodbye, " her coach Marc Dehous told VRT radio.

One British player is through to the second round of Queen's already, Jonathan Marray. He beat Rochus 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. If Delgado were to win his match against Dent then we'd have an all English second round.
Rusedski is currently out on court against Lee. He took the first set 6-3 after winning the first three games, but now he lost the second by the same score.

I'm not sure if Coria will be out of Queen's Emma. He has a bye to the second round, which gives him a few days to recover depending how bad the injury was yesterday.

Rusedski lost the third set with 6-4 and so the Korean player advances.

Honestly, I already was a little afraid this would happen. But there's still the US Open ... and remember she's still young. She has a long future ahead.

Women's Ranking/Race:
1. Henin. 2321
2. Myskina. 2071
3. Mauresmo. 1891
4. Davenport. 1773
5. V Williams. 1600
6. Dementieva. 1452
7. Kuznetsova. 1418
8. Capriati. 1250
9. Clijsters. 1238
0. Suarez. 1061

It's a shame for Rusedski, after coming back from so long out, to lose at Queens in the 1st round. He definitely look like he was 'out of matches' (in other words, hadn't played enough recently) in the second and third sets. That and Lee stepped up a gear. At least we still have Henman and several others.

Tommorow, we can look forward to:

G Ivanisevic (Cro) v V Hanescu (Rom)
(3) A Agassi (US) v I Andreev (Rus)
(1) A Roddick (US) v K Kucera (Svk)
(8) S Schalken (Ned) v (Q)W Whitehouse (SA)

..on the center court.

Are those matches for June 8th or June 9th? Looking at date/time of your post, June 9th, but ...

BTW - Today's the birthday of both Lindsay Davenport (she's turning 28 today) and ...

... Kim (Kong) Clijsters! She's turning 21.

It's a mistake I make sometimes! I put tommorow cause I was thinking 'it's still Monday', when of course it was not long into Tuesday at the time. All those matches are for today.

Ivanisevic and Philippoussis are both already out of Queens. Ivanisevic was beaten in 3 sets by Hanescu. The Romanian won 6-7, 6-4, 6-4. Philippoussis was beaten by British qualifier Ian Flanagan 6-7, 6-7. That's a great result for the young British player. Maybe a player capable of going on to climb the rankings by quite a considerable amount. Flanagan and Hansecu play each other in the second round.
