WTA Charleston:

#12 seed Jelena Dokic is through to the second round. She was too strong for Panova with 6-0, 5-7, 7-5.

#1 seed Henin cancelled her participation due to sickness.

So I guess it's between #2 and #4 seeds Serena and Venus Williams? Both advance to the Quarter Final, Serena a little easier than Venus.

And there's nothing wrong with taking a week rest. Let the Williams sisters fight for that WTA title.

Yes!

And when you're up a few thousand points (in front of a #2 who is injured and also not playing ), then you can take a week off, nothing will happen anyway ...

And there goes the next one ... seed #2 Serena Williams withdrawed from any further participation in Charleston. She has a knee injury ...

Why on earth did she start with this tournament?

Main title candidates now are Venus Williams and ... Lindsay Davenport. Could this become her next victory?

Seed #11 Patty Schnyder defeated Davenport in 52 minutes. The match ended in a 6-3, 6-2 victory for Schnyder.

Venus Williams advances to the Semi's.
